Billionaires Are Aghast

"I’m for helping the homeless people, but I think they could have placed the shelter elsewhere.”

I literally laughed out loud when I read this article.

Perhaps, next election, their vote will reflect their experience, and they will join the mindset of the other millions of people who have to deal with homeless camps/shelters in their low to middle-class neighborhoods.

Remember when the Portland city gov't decided it would be a fine idea to erect shacks in people's back yards to house the homeless? How many of Portland's wealthy raised their hands? *crickets* That's right; the women with pussy hats and the "antifa" agitators and the city council loud mouths are all for "helping the homeless" as long as it doesn't involve them doing anything more than verbal virtue signalling. They can't have homeless in their gated communities. That's what the gate is for; to keep out the riff raff. It's a free country. They can do that.

Just don't tell me how virtuous you are, or try to tell me you're for "social justice". You're a LARPer. And a liar. And a fraud. Scurry back to your walled compound and STFU.

That is all.

Sortition

Here is a long column about how it would be easier for The Powers That Be to control small groups of diversity-selected people than to control the entire populace at the voting booth.

Power and Control.
"In order to keep democracy alive, we will have to learn that democracy cannot be reduced to voting alone. Elections and referendums become dangerously outmoded tools if they are not enriched with more sensible forms of citizens’ participation. Structured deliberation with a random sample of citizens promises to generate a more vital, dynamic and inclusive form of democracy. In Utrecht, the fourth city of the Netherlands, the city council now drafts by lot 150 citizens to co-create its sustainable energy plan. These processes may become a permanent feature of any modern democracy."
This is well worth the time to read and digest. I found the propaganda value of the photos interesting; in one, an ancient old crone heads to the voting booth in London. In another, Trump appears to give the sieg heil salute.

Shall we discuss?

Controlling The Narrative

Have you all been following the awful rape of a special needs little girl in Idaho? There's more:
The following is a news release issued late Friday from the office of United States Attorney Wendy J. Olson.
“BOISE – The United States Attorney’s Office extends its support to the five-year-old victim of assault, and her family, at the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls.
“The United States Attorney’s Office further encourages community members in Twin Falls and throughout Idaho to remain calm and supportive, to pay close attention to the facts that have been released by law enforcement and the prosecuting attorney, and to avoid spreading false rumors and inaccuracies.
“Grant Loebs is an experienced prosecutor, and Chief Craig Kingsbury is an experienced law enforcement officer. They are moving fairly and thoughtfully in this case,” said Wendy J. Olson, U.S. Attorney for Idaho. “As Mr. Loebs and Chief Kingsbury informed the public, the subjects in this case are juveniles, ages 14, 10 and 7. The criminal justice system, whether at the state or federal level, requires that juveniles be afforded a specific process with significant restrictions on the information that can be released. The fact that the subjects are juveniles in no way lessens the harm to or impact on the victim and her family.”
Olson continued, saying:
“The spread of false information or inflammatory or threatening statements about the perpetrators or the crime itself reduces public safety and may violate federal law. We have seen time and again that the spread of falsehoods about refugees divides our communities. I urge all citizens and residents to allow Mr. Loebs and Chief Kingsbury and their teams to do their jobs.”
As one of 93 U.S. attorneys, Olson represents the federal government in all civil and criminal cases within her state.
Olson was appointed to her post in 2010 by President Obama and has a history of taking strong stands against “anti-Muslim bias.”

The Mind Of The Left

Here's a good article I thought you all might enjoy reading and pondering.  A snippet:
"Economics are not usually considered part of a culture, but for red-diaper leftists, their attitude to economics is cultural. It is part of the core, sacred narrative. They usually have a child-like view of economics, which they often have inherited from their parents. This is probably why the doubt triggered by their first tax shock is so easily forgotten for leftists. The child-like view is comfortable and familiar. Once amnesia sets in and comfort returns, discussions of economic reality are seen as right-wing propaganda.
Leftists hear big numbers and picture Scrooge McDuck’s money bin, not infrastructure, maintenance, specialized equipment, transportation, training, payrolls, etc.
For leftists, industry has so much money. Businesses make huge profits. The price of everything is too high. The government has billions. They want to keep it all for themselves and their rich friends. So leftists believe that these evil people must be made to spend the money on things the leftists themselves choose."

Thanks to Vox Day for the great find.   A slice of his thoughts on the article:
"It's an interesting glimpse into what, for me, is an entirely alien mindset. I find it easier to understand those from very foreign cultures, including the English, the Italians, and even the Japanese, than I do a left-wing 2.0 American. While I correctly noted their fixation on narratives and the childish nature of their magical thinking, I was always mystified by their delusions of intellectual brilliance.

I put it down to their education and credential fetishes, but the author makes clear their belief in their intelligence is actually due to the fact that they are so deluded, they believe they are actually producing the solution to all the various problems they encounter by virtue of repeating their magic mantra: more government spending.

Of course, their concept of government is childish too; it is essentially a magic combination of a 365-day Santa Claus with a friendly Sunday School god whose got the whole world in his hands."

Oh, Snap!

Discussing the debate:
"People always go on about how they want specifics - a little bit of wonkery, with decimal points in the numbers, references to arcane bills and obscure acronyms. But after four debates I'd like a little more generality - a bit of big-picture stuff. The safe-space shock-troops of the American university, for example, say nothing good about where this country's headed. Nor does the deteriorating mortality rate of middle-aged high-school educated white Americans - whose lives are not only shorter than their compatriots, shorter than socioeconomically similar Canadians, but shorter than pretty much anyone in the developed world other than Russian men face down in the vodka. That seems not unconnected to the dissolution of the border, and the ceaseless supply of cheap foreign labor, and the stagnation in wages, and the shriveling of the employment market to crappy low-paid service jobs about to be rendered obsolete by technology."
Have you guessed the author yet? The zinger:
"It is striking that, even in a conservative debate, mass, remorseless, illegal immigration is discussed almost entirely from the illegals' point of view: as Kasich advises, think of the families, think of the children. Their families, their children. The families of those they've supplanted are of less consequence. The argument made by Bush and Kasich against enforcing the immigration laws is an appeal to moral preening: this is "not who we are". But using mass immigration to destroy the lives of your own citizens? That's exactly who we are."
Emphasis mine. You can read the whole piece here.

Water Is A God-Given Right.

Hand over your wallet, you evil taxpayers!

Garner said the reality is that nearly half of Detroit Water and Sewerage customers can’t pay their bills; and that has led activists to lobby the UN to step up and take action.
“If they do contact us we are willing to speak with them,” she said, adding “We owe it to the customers that are paying to collect from those that aren’t. Somebody has to pay for the water.”
And while Garner says water is “a God-given right,” she says there is a cost to move water from the water resource to the customer and that the infrastructure costs money.
*snip*

Posted Kathy Ward, “This is just insane. If someone is that destitute that they truly cannot afford their water bill, there are already welfare programs in place for that. I’m guessing those same people not paying their water also have a TV, cable, I-phone, etc. People need to get their priorities straight, not expect another government handout.”

Ouchie. That had to hurt.

Putting The Pieces In Place

Obama's top Stasi goon is moving from Homeland Security to the Ministry of Youth Indoctrination and Compliance President of the University of California system.

Napolitano’s nomination by a committee of UC regents came after a secretive process that insiders said focused on her early as a high-profile, although untraditional, candidate who has led large public agencies and shown a strong interest in improving education.

Bend over, hippie freaks and hispanics. You're about to get exactly what you voted for; a jackboot up your ass. I'll bet you didn't think Obama's thugocracy applied to you, hmm?

In other "news", the Zimmerman fiasco is inching towards its inevitable conclusion. This trial is a mockery, and highlights how social justice has contaminated every aspect of our lives. It also showcases the profound stupidity that has crept in to all classes and races in this country. It's a pitiful display.

When the sham "verdict" is announced, I really don't care if people want to riot and burn their own neighborhoods down. Let 'em. Anybody with a brain cell left in their head should be prepared to defend their own patch of dirt from the government and media-incited mobs.

Tick tock.

The "Americans With No Abilities" Act

"President Barack Obama and the Senate are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said California Sen. Barbara Boxer. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing."

You can read the rest at The People's Cube.

Cap And Trade? It's Here.

In an unbelievable show of pure liberal thuggery and theft, California is embarking on yet another massive redistribution of wealth. This time the recipients aren't even in squatting in California; they're a band of Apaches nestled high in the east central Arizona mountains.

"WHITERIVER  — If everything goes according to plan, the White Mountain Apache will be able to retire all their debt within the next year or two and start putting millions toward economic development. The source of the  immediate funds, says Tribal Planner Joe Waters, is carbon sequestration payments from California companies.

Initial payments could run from $20-36 million, with an annual payment thereafter of $1.5-2 million.

The root cause of the bonanza is California’s recent legislation demanding refineries, utilities, and other manufacturers either cut their carbon emissions with expensive scrubbers, or find a way to buy credits through a “cap and trade” program. The best way to sequester carbon, says Waters, is when trees absorb carbon dioxide and emit only oxygen. Because public lands can’t be used for this program, says Waters, and the largest private forests are those owned by tribes, the Apache are a perfect source for California companies.
“The White Mountain Apache Tribe,” says tribal Chairman Ronnie Lupe, “continues to explore uses of our natural resources that yield optimal benefit to the tribe and its members while retaining the integrity of the resource.
The tribe has around 770,000 acres of pine forest, and will put 100,000 acres into the program. Because the Apache forests are in such good shape, says Waters, and sequestering even more than the baseline amount for such forests, they will be paid a one-time bonus."

You can read more at this small, online newspaper.  This "social justice" steaming pile of fascist crap didn't make the mainstream papers at all. Imagine that.

A Must Read from Walter Williams

Walter Williams is a professor of economics. He has filled in for Rush on many occasions (he and Mark Steyn are my favorite fill-in hosts).

Williams has a column that is well worth reading. If only people would listen to the likes of Professor Williams.

Angry Black Woman Is Angry Again

She's always struck me as being perpetually angry and defensive. Now she's angry at being portrayed by the people who know her best as "angry".

First lady Michelle Obama is challenging assertions she's forcefully imposed her will on White House aides and says people have inaccurately tried to portray her as "some kind of angry black woman."

I'll be so freakin' glad when this woman is loading up the UHaul for the long trip back to ChiTown. I'm sure the next first lady, whoever she may be, will exhibit more class and appreciation than Michelle Obama; it wouldn't take much.

Cultural FAIL

Discrimination? You want to holler about discrimination and naked racism, NAACP and assorted other "special interest" whiners? Here you go!

...The studies show that a black or Hispanic undergraduate applicant was more than 500 times likelier to be admitted to Wisconsin-Madison than a similarly qualified white or Asian applicant. The odds favoring black law school applicants over similarly qualified white applicants was 61 to 1.

The median SAT scores of black undergrads who were admitted were 150 points lower than whites or Asians, while the median Hispanic scores were roughly 100 points lower.

Absolutely revolting, and akin to a slow national suicide. If we're not educating the best and the brightest (regardless of "specialness") we are doomed.

Surviving The Looming Catastrophe

Here is an excellent column by Janet Daley of The Telegraph. A snippet:

The Tea Party faction within the Republican party was demanding that, before any further steps were taken, there must be a debate about where all this was going. They had seen the future toward which they were being pushed, and it didn’t work. They were convinced that the entitlement culture and benefits programmes which the Democrats were determined to preserve and extend with tax rises could only lead to the diminution of that robust economic freedom that had created the American historical miracle.

And, again contrary to prevailing wisdom, their view is not naive and parochial: it is corroborated by the European experience. By rights, it should be Europe that is immersed in this debate, but its leaders are so steeped in the sacred texts of social democracy that they cannot admit the force of the contradictions which they are now hopelessly trying to evade.

Tick Tock

Obama is now freaking out the democrats. Pelosi was last seen fanning her botox and muttering about having "the Vapors" and feeling "faintified"...

Obama widened the hairline crack today by publicly endorsing Medicare means testing that would deny benefits to wealthier Americans.

If adopted, the change would shift the universal Medicare program from a social insurance program for everyone to a welfare program for poor Americans.

Democrats have resisted such a shift for decades out of fear that such would undermine widespread middle class support for government health care programs.

Tsk, tsk. Read more here.
