Shoah

For the past week I have been watching Claude Lanzmann's 1985 documentary Shoah. I've had to view it a little at a time; it's too overwhelming to do anything else. I'm on part 3 of 4, and feel emotionally raw. In 2010, Roger Ebert said:

"For more than nine hours I sat and watched a film named "Shoah," and when it was over, I sat for a while longer and simply stared into space, trying to understand my emotions. I had seen a memory of the most debased chapter in human history. But I had also seen a film that affirmed life so passionately that I did not know where to turn with my confused feelings. There is no proper response to this film. It is an enormous fact, a 550-minute howl of pain and anger in the face of genocide. It is one of the noblest films ever made."

Don't bother making popcorn for this movie. You won't eat it.  God help us all.

Erase the SPLC

Nice Shirt

Did you hear about the black Miami Dolphins safety who dared to express a thought?  The poor guy was beat to the ground by the NFL and the Dolphin organization for expressing an opinion on Twitter. When the openly gay, nominally talented Michael Sam was drafted by the Rams at the very, very, very end of the draft, Sam planted a liplock on his beau, with the ESPN cameras zooming in for a close up of the momentous event.  Don Jones, the black safety from Miami, tweeted "OMG!" and "Horrible!". Did I mention that Don Jones is black? Well, Michael Sam is too, and this is helpful in establishing the ground rules of thought crime. Black gay trumps black straight.

Actually, I'm beginning to think that gay is the ace of hearts in the thought crime deck. The media is cray cray over anything and everything that smacks of gayness or rainbows. 1-3% of the population, depending on who you ask, is gay. How can such a small minority drive the national agenda to the point of ostricization and real-world consequences for not bowing to the rainbow god?  This is a good question that no one ever asks. Maybe they don't want to know. Maybe they're afraid to ask.

It's really too bad that Don Sterling isn't gay. His "racism" may have landed him a much softer fall from grace, and perhaps he would be able to keep the team he's built. But no. Sterling is white, Sterling is a Jew, and the players are mostly black. The thought police will wrest his team away and award it to....wait for it...black owners. Because black. Because da Joooos have all the money.

Most people stood idly with their hands in their pockets when white guy quarterback Tim Tebow was viciously torn limb-from-limb for daring to verbalize his Christian beliefs. The media whipped themselves into a frenzy, with Tebow's blood dripping from their snarling snouts. It was, quoting  Don Jones, "horrible". Even after the ESPN hyenas ripped him out of the NFL, the attacks continued. I can deduce from this that white Christian men are the deuce of clubs in the thought-crime deck.

Here is a soft tomato for the "tolerance" and "inclusion" crowd; you get bonus points if you splat a Christian or a Jew in the face. By the way, nice rainbow shirt, bro.

Cliven Bundy: Under the Bus

I've been watching the whole Nevada/grazing fees/militarized federal response/civilian militia kerfuffle with a skeptical eye. I've spent many years living and working near BLM land that is allotted to ranchers for grazing purposes, and have experienced first hand the possessiveness exhibited by said ranchers towards hunters and hikers. The attitude of some of these guys is asshole-ish in the extreme, so it's been difficult for me to feel much outrage on behalf of Bundy.

However, the response by the feds to a problem that has gone on for decades is straight from the Twilight Zone. What changed? The guy hasn't paid his fees for years; why the armed invasion to kill his cows? It's downright weird. Obviously, there is more going on. The demented nincompoop Harry Reid appears to be chin-deep in cowshit when it comes to this land. It's obvious that something about this episode gave him a super-sized wedgie. But what, at this point, does it matter? (*channeling Shillery*) It's not news that Reid is a corrupt little man. It's not news that our politicians use federal assets for their own benefit, whether monetary or political.

Now Bundy has stumbled into the gooey, stinking tar pit of Political Correctness. Everyone has jumped on the band wagon. It's positively stunning. Perhaps he could have phrased his off-the-cuff comments a bit differently, but were his comments racist? I've made similar observations in the past; the black family has been utterly decimated in our inner cities. Lifelong welfare and handouts, penalties for daring to have an intact family with a working father, the wholesale slaughter of black children by Planned Parenthood and other baby-slaying entities, have left a path of destruction across several generations. These people have indeed traded one brand of slavery for another, and it's not just black families. Rural Appalachia has seen similar devastation. Is it particularly courageous of me to make these observations? Will Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Rand Paul and other shrieking apologists point a shaky, rage-filled finger in my general direction? Bah. What a bunch of cowardly jackwagons. We'll never be a true melting pot until we actually have an honest discussion about failed liberal policies, and until we quit heeding and feeding the race hustlers.

So, it's under the bus for dear old Cliven Bundy. The politicians and the "conservative" lip flappers have grabbed his legs and arms and joyfully tossed him between the oversized Bluebird tires. Thump. Thump thump.

For many of the rest of us, we'll simply turn the radio dial from talk to an oldies station, and reexamine who shall receive our political donations in the future.

Frickity-frickin' Frackers

Evil rich land baron robber Texans (*spit!*) are not only purchasing vast chunks of land in Montana, oh no. The story goes MUCH deeper than stealing land that should be owned by (California moonbat transplant) Montanans...they donated money to...Republicans! ACK! Run for the hills...er,...Buttes!

It found that the largest donor to legislative candidates was Dan and Farris Wilks and their wives, who all list Texas as home. The group donated to more than 70 candidates, all Republicans, and generally gave the maximum contribution allowed by law to legislative candidates, $160 for a general election. The total exceeded $51,000.

Let's see; if the brothers and their wives each donate a whopping $160 to a given candidate...lick end of pencil...stick tongue out of side of mouth in concentration...erase...carry the two...that's $640 bucks! Wow! That should buy LOTS of influence in the state house, doncha think?

I wonder how all that cash stacks up to Spooky Dude's contributions. Or union contributions.

The Tunnel-Vision of White Guilt

Norris Burkes is a pastor who, for years, has written a little column that's syndicated in many newspapers. I enjoy his column; it's generally uplifting and homespun. This week? Not so much.

"When one of my editors suggested I write about Trayvon Martin, I wasn’t sure I could do that. After all, I wasn’t in Sanford, Fla., so I don’t know what happened there.

However, I do know what happens in my heart. It’s easy to condemn George Zimmerman, Trayvon’s shooter, but how am I different than Zimmerman if I don’t examine my own role in racism?

As a white man, I don’t experience oppression — I experience privilege. Just as Zimmerman was given the benefit of the doubt, society also gives me the same benefit, but with no requirement to earn that privilege."

 Burkes, and high-falutin men like him, refuse to look around at the way the world REALLY operates. They are cocooned by their own conceptions and perceptions, and so self-absorbed that they cannot see that their gilded premise rings totally false to the vast majority of Americans who pack their lunch box and trudge off to work every day.

It's all roses that HE has never been "oppressed" or "discriminated" against, but that is not reality. If you grew up poor, or ARE poor, chances are you won't be welcome in a five-star restaurant, what with your shabby jeans and second-hand shirt. If you're blond and blue-eyed, you might not be served at the snack bar at a high school basketball game in Kayenta, Arizona, or be safe taking a midnight stroll down Flushing Avenue in Brooklyn. How about being admitted to a decent college? Owning up to Caucasian genes won't help you there; and if you're of the "male" persuasion? Fuggetaboutit. There are quotas to fill, dammit. If you're a woman over the age of 25, you've been overlooked for a promotion. I guarantee it. Are you short? Fat? Have bad skin? Too many freckles? Bad or discolored teeth? A history of depression, or a chronic health problem? You've been discriminated against. That's life!

Burkes, and people like him, fan the flames of racial divides instead of uniting us all as one people. Men with no callouses on their hands, nor ideas to advance mankind, pontificating from on high, living in gated communities and untouched by the seething masses, are deplorable. I want to grab him by the front of his starched shirt and scream in his face "SHUT UP YOU IDIOT!".

Burkes has, with no facts of the case, decided that Mr. Zimmerman is guilty of murder. He must be! He's privileged because he's "white", isn't he? Guilty! What poppycock. I reject Burkes and his entire column of drivel and nonsense. He may not have "earned his privilege", but it's a safe bet that many of the rest of us (all colors and races) damn sure have. Put a cork in it Pastor Burkes.  You're NOT helping.

The True Face Of The Far-Left

When is it acceptable to call a man a "chink"? When he's a devout Christian, and you're a far-left news organization, that's when.

An article about the New York Knicks' Mr Lin was given the headline 'Chink in the Armor' on ESPN's mobile website, but the offensive line was removed within an hour."

Hmm, I'll bet they wouldn't have called Mr. Lin a "chink" if he were a Muslim. Or better yet, an athiest. ESPN is to sports news what MSNBC is to political news; a running sewer.

I hope Mr. Lin shrugs off the insult, as we all should when faced with such ignorance, intolerance, and bigotry.  Keep talking, progressives and Marxist fools. The mask is slipping a bit more each day.

Mitt: An Incomplete Picture

Frank Bruni has penned a thoughtful and thought-provoking column in the NYT.  It's worth a read.

LAST week he did it again, wading into a discussion of money — or, rather, of the “very poor” who lack it — and succumbing to yet another pink slip of the tongue. Mitt Romney is forever being tripped up this election cycle by the topic of wealth.

Not, interestingly, religion.

While mentioning the "poverty" of Mormon missionaries is a bit absurd, Bruni does make other interesting points regarding Romney's failure to publicly embrace his faith. Is Bruni wily like a fox, or sincere and insightful? Either way, I think he addresses the elephant in the room without the spittle-flecked hysteria and arm-flapping dramatics of other Times writers. The left is up against a bit of a wall; they can't wildly embrace Islam (and by extension "cultural diversity" as a whole) while denigrating the Mormon brand of Christianity. To do so would be trumpeting their hypocrisy, and make them look like...well... asses.

Stéphane Gendron, host of Face à Face, a daily talk show on Quebec’s V Television network, garnered a flood of complaints after a December broadcast where he said he supported an ongoing boycott of a Montreal store that sold Israeli-made shoes.

Products made in Israel on land stolen from the Palestinians that is walled in, in an apartheid regime where they are cut off, it’s very serious,” said Mr. Gendron, who is also the mayor of Huntingdon, a small town south of Montreal. “And a country like that does not deserve to exist.

And I'm sure Gendron was a vocal anti-proponent of French only (racist, apathied) language laws in la belle province.

Those Pesky Little Christians Will Riot And Burn Stuff!

The Tebow-bashing (which is actually an assault on Christianity) gets even crazier...now a rabbi joins the fray. I read this story yesterday on Jewish Week, and was nonplussed. It has since been yanked, but I found it this morning, preserved on zee intarnetz FOREVAH AND EVAH here. A snippet:

If Tebow wins the Super Bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants. While America has become more inclusive since Jerry Falwell’s first political forays, a Tebow triumph could set those efforts back considerably.

Bob Beckel, the always-angry liberal nitwit on The Five, is a Christian. Yeah, it's news to me too...I'll bet he doesn't get invited to many Beltway cocktail parties. Anyhoo, he took exception to the rabbi's offensive words. In this video, Beckel calls him a "punk".



Here's a thought that should make the good rabbi's head explode: if Denver does make it to the Superbowl, they will in all likelihood be playing the Green Bay Packers. Their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is a...(dare I say it?) ...is a Christian. *gasp!* And not only is Aaron a Christian, he can fly! Beat that, Tim Tebow!

I believe I'll stock up on extra nacho-makings for the Big Game, because no matter who wins, the pesky little Christians will be riotin' on Wall Street and rapin' small furry animals and burnin' stuff and pillagin' all my beer. The rascals!
