In case you didn't hear - Israel attacked by hundreds of missiles from Gaza

Knowing what the MSM is like, and having had a quick peek just to be sure and finding my suspicions confirmed (from almost nothing to zilch in the media) I thought you might like to know that since this afternoon over 200 rockets and missiles have been launched by Hamas against southern Israel.

It started with an apparent IDF intel-gathering operation in Gaza which went wrong and was discovered. An IDF special forces officer was killed, and in the ensuing firefight the IDF managed to kill 7 Hamas terrorists including, luckily, one of their commanders, Nur Barakeh, who was a biggie in their tunnel building operations.

Hamas retaliated with some rocket fire and the IDF reacted to that, the usual tit-for-tat, and that was it. We thought.

Suddenly, at around 4 pm this afternoon (around 5 hours ago) with no warning and no provocation, Hamas and its allies suddenly opened fire on Israel with a massive barrage of rockets and missiles into the south of Israel. Within the space of one hour over 100 missiles were fired! Since the beginning of the barrage at around 4 p.m., over 200 missiles and rockets have been fired into Israel causing serious damage.

In the first hour over 100 rockets were fired into Israel. More than another 100 - who can count any more? - have been shot causing direct hits to houses in Ashkelon and Netivot.

The Red Alert app on my phone has been lit up like a fairground for hours. The rockets are still incoming as I type. I myself am safe in the center of the country, but my compatriots are not and I am furious!

There was also a direct hit by a Kornet anti-tank missile on a bus which minutes earlier was carrying 50 soldiers, seriously injuring one of the soldiers; and generally there has been tons of other property damage across the south with several Israeli citizens injured.

This seems to be the most apt response so far:

We are fed up with our government who seems to be trying to manage the situation rather than solving it once and for all.  The residents of the south have no life, and have had no life for over 6 months while incendiary kites and balloons have been launched from Gaza across the border, burning thousands of acres of farmland and nature reserves, killing wildlife and plants. But not a squeak from the international community.

You'll only hear the squeaks and squawks when "Israel hits back first".

Terror In France

Islam's war against civilization continues; this time it nearly killed our friend Alison and her son.  She shared this on FB a few minutes ago:
"The scene outside our front fucking door last night. The golden lit up building in the centre where the truck is finally stopped, riddled with bullets is the front of our block. The front is a hotel and at the back its apartments facing north. It's our home. Go ahead and tell me that this is work place violence, a lone wolf attack or an issue with gun legislation. Just go the fuck ahead."

Earlier in the evening she had posted this:
"We are safe. All the images you see are right where we live. The underpass is on the corner of our street. We live behind the Promenade facing the hills but the building is on the Promenade. We were being buzzed and didn't let people in because we had no idea what had happened. I was planning to take Joseph to the fireworks but it wound up too late and I didn't feel like going. The fireworks display is a huge display every year. The whole city is patrolled daily by armed soldiers. How this happened is incredible. It's surreal seeing your building on the news. This was a family event. Sick sick sick."

Breitbart is once again leading the way with great coverage.
At least 80 people have died and dozens injured during Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, France after a truck ran into a large crowd. Police have announced they are treating the incident as “an attack.”

RIP Elie Wiesel 1928-2016

Elie Wiesel, a giant of the Jewish nation passed away on Saturday aged 87. There is surely hardly anyone who hasn’t heard of the Holocaust survivor who became “the conscience of the world”, standing up for Holocaust survivors, the Jewish nation, and victims of racism and genocide worldwide.  The Jerusalem Post provides a condensed bio:
Called “the world’s leading spokesman on the Holocaust” by the Nobel committee, Wiesel dedicated his life to perpetuating the memory of the Holocaust and promoting Holocaust education, as well as “to combat[ ting] indifference, intolerance and injustice through international dialogue and youth-focused programs that promote acceptance, understanding and equality,” according to his foundation.

Wiesel said the fight against indifference and the concomitant attitude that “it’s no concern of mine” was a struggle for peace. “The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference,” he said. “To remain silent and indifferent is the greatest sin of all.”
[...]
Wiesel was the author of some four dozen works dealing with Judaism, the Holocaust and the moral responsibility of all people to fight hatred, racism and genocide.

But it was his first, the memoir Night (1956), which gained Wiesel fame. It tells of his experience with his father in Auschwitz and Buchenwald in 1944–1945, to where he was taken at age 15 from his Romanian hometown of Sighet.
[...]

Wiesel was not without a sense of humor. Upon receiving the World Jewish Congress’s Theodore Herzl Award in 2013, Wiesel said: “There were two great men in Europe at that time: Herzl and Freud. Luckily they never met. Just imagine Herzl knocking on the door of Dr. Freud: ‘I had a dream.’ Freud would have said, ‘Sit down. Tell me about your mother.’”
Dozens of obituaries and articles about Elie Wiesel have been published in the last 24 hours, too many to link to or post here. I will just link to a couple which stood out in my mind.

Terrorism In Canada

Two Canadian soldiers murdered on Canadian soil by Islamic terrorists in the last three days.

On Monday 53-year-old Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was run down and later died of his injuries. The savage that killed him was, thankfully, shot and killed by police. RIP Patrice Vincent and thank you for your service.

Today, 24 year old Cpl Nathan Cirillo was shot to death while guarding our National War Memorial in Ottawa. The savage that killed him was, thankfully, shot and killed by Kevin Vickers, the sergeant-at-arms for the House of Commons and 29-year RCMP veteran. RIP Nathan Cirillo and thank you for your service.

PM Harper addressed the nation tonight and did something that no media outlet has the balls to do; he called the perpetrators "terrorists". Thank you Mr. Harper.  I get the distinct impression that "workplace violence" will have no truck with our PM.

He who does not learn history....

I have been thinking about this cartoon the past few days. It reminds me so much of the responses from Western political leaders after events such as the murder of Lee Rigby. Note the words in the song from 3:26 to 3:32.

Hopefully our leaders will wake up and that the results in the future will will be like those in the cartoon. Either that or the people wake up and replace their governments who seem so unwilling to protect their people from evil.

Will this be the straw...

that breaks the camel's back?  Horrific news from London today. WARNING, the links contain graphic details.

When are we going to finally do something?  As I posted on FB:

There is absolutely no reason now, nor was there ever, to appease these barbaric bastards. Sorry Cameron but your "Britain will never buckle to terrorism" is a huge effing lie...you already have. Could we please find a world leader somewhere with half the balls of Churchill...he was right then and he's right now "There is no greater mistake than to suppose that platitudes, smooth words, and timid policies offer a path to safety."

More incredible details here and here.

And really, is this any surprise?

RIP brave Soldier and thank you for your service.

Could science please clone Mark Steyn, please.

"The Tsarnaev brothers had spent most of their lives in the United States, and lived the diversity dream. They seem to have had a droll wit when it comes to symbolism: Last year, the younger brother took his oath of citizenship and became an American on Sept. 11. And, in their final hours of freedom, they added a cruel bit of mockery to their crimes by carjacking a getaway vehicle with a "CO-EXIST" bumper sticker.

I wonder, when the "CO-EXIST" car is returned to its owner, whether he or she will keep the bumper sticker in place. One would not expect him to conclude, as the gays of Amsterdam and the Jews of Toulouse and the Christians of Egypt have bleakly done, that if it weren't for that Islamic crescent you wouldn't need a bumper sticker at all."   (Emphasis mine).

As usual, read it all.

Israel launches Operation Pillar of Cloud against Gaza

After weeks of escalating missiles and rocket fire against Israel's southern communities, the IDF launched Operation Pillar of Cloud (aka Pillar of Defense) against Gaza. It started with the targeted assassination of Hamas's "Chief of Staff" Ahmed Jaabari.

The operation follows four days of escalated rocket attacks from Gaza during which over 150 projectiles were fired at civilian communities in southern Israel. Israeli leaders have made clear in recent days that the country would not tolerate the continued attacks.
The operation began with the assassination of Hamas terror mastermind Ahmed al-Jabari earlier today. A statement from the Shin Bet about the strike said, “Jabari was responsible for financing and directing military operations and attacks against Israel. His elimination today is a message to Hamas officials in Gaza that if they continue promoting terrorism against Israel, they will be hurt.”
IDF Spokesman Yoav Mordechai told the Jerusalem Post that al-Jabari was a man with “a lot of blood on his hands.”
 [...]
The naming if the operation is drawn from biblical verses in Exodus, that refer to a column of smoke that led and protected the Israelites during their sojourns in the desert .

Watch the official IDF video of the pinpoint assassination of Jaabari:
