Outrageous!

You all WILL NOT believe this. Wordpress has taken down Annie's blog, with no warning whatsoever. They say she didn't comply with their terms of service...huh? She's currently trying to import her blog to another site.

  1. Un-frickin'-believable! I'm hopping mad. It takes A LOT of work to create a blog, and Annie's place was awesome.

  2. Is anyone having trouble posting here this evening? Blogger won't let our florrie post for some reason. Please email me if you too are having blogger troubles.

    Weird.

  3. I had trouble with blogger, tried to create a new blog there but gave up in the end. I've made a new blog now, but it looks so much like wordpress I'm scared it's a subsidiary.

    Meanwhile the address is http://anneinpt.blog.com.

If my old place isn't up and running in the next day or 2, please use the new address. Or use both!

I can't tell you how physically sick I feel.

  4. I have to get to bed, it's so late here, 2 a.m. and Rosh Hashana starts tomorrow night, a 3-day festival. So even if my blog starts up again I won't even know till sunday.

  5. WTH? Now I'm posting as blogger? I'm leaving the internet...

  6. I check her blog all the time, WTH?!? Yes, she's spent lots of time and energy into Annie's Place and hers was TRULY an international blog, with visitors from all over the world.

I think Wordpress better expound on how exactly she failed to comply with their terms of service. I smell a rat.

  7. florrie here, that was me ^^^

I can only post as "anonymous" and it also tries to redirect me. I'll try this comment under my nick.

  9. I was in Annie's house yesterday, reading about a certain jackass named Phillips.

I've added her new address to the Pure Gold Blogs on the side panel.

  10. Florrie! I'm so glad the blogger gollum let you in!

Wordpress has got some explaining to do. I can't imagine what it would be like for TCKT to just "disappear".

I'm very angry with the WP people. This is really WRONG.

  11. I tried to leave a message at Wordpress regarding this absurdity, but it was not too mucn interested in my thoughts, since I did not have (or want) a Wordpress account.

  12. DWT you dont' need a wordpress account to make a complaint. Just go to the support page and fiddle around until you find somewhere you can make a complaint. The more people who complain the better. I hope. I wonder if one of the antisemites made a complaint. But why against me? Why not one of the bigger blogs?

  13. Thanks for all your support guys. I must get to bed now. I'm crashing.

  14. Good night, Annie - sleep well in spite of it all.

  15. I just had to log back in -- normally I do not have to unless I shut the computer down. Maybe they had a problem or were doing some maintenance.

Regrading Annie, I have the sense that sites will drop a blog first and ask questions later. I wonder if someone complained because she did not take the politically correct stance.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Annie, I can't believe they did that to you! The only TOS violation you might possibly be guilty of would be speaking the truth.

    I'm with florrie... "I smell a rat."

"I wonder if one of the antisemites made a complaint."

I bet that's right, and I'm wondering if it were a group planned exercise. I can't imagine wordpress acting on the complaint of one person.

Condolences, Annie. The place was so nice... I know you are suffering.

  17. I left a message with customer support asking why this happened. I'll be highly surprised if I hear back... but one never knows.

  18. Oh noes! I'm so sorry annie, that stinks :(

  19. Hi guys, still no luck. Wordpress contacted me and told me to contact their 'terms of service' team. Why isn't that address on their website? Anyway, I contacted them - and the email bounced back! Rejected! Chutzpah! I contacted them again and await their answer.

    /not holding breath.

    I'm furious.

  20. Here's a reminder of my new address:

    Anne's Opinions new website

It's Rosh Hashana in a few hours and I have to get back to the kitchen. After the holiday season is over I'll work on getting a "proper" professional site.

Thank you all again for your support.

  21. If you guys want to be pro-active, try and contact wordpress.com from their support page and ask that my blog be reinstated.

  22. I tried again, and got a message sent, this time. Perhaps there will be an answer.

  23. Profound sympathy and solidarity annie. I wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm not.

The culture of most of the American internet companies is uber-PC. As in "zionism == racism". And they don't feel like letting conversations happen that they don't like. Where did they learn this rudeness? Their teachers.

It probably didn't take too many people "flagging" the blog for them to take it down.

Ann Althouse had her blogspot blog disappear for some time. I wouldn't be surprised if TCTK disappeared one day.

  24. "Breitbart and/or PJM needs to start a blog platform stat. SRSLY. "

That's a good idea, Lewy. I'll send this post to Glenn Reynolds, maybe he will read it, as he has responded to my emails on occasion.

  25. I should reach out to my old Winds of Change buddies (who have essentially quit blogging themselves) - they were tied in to PJM version 1.0...

  26. I've had a slight bit of progress. The moderator who answered my original complaint has a personal blog. I went to her blog and emailed her there and told her the terms of service team are bouncing my emails back. She just came back and apologized for giving me the wrong address (Duh! Facepalm!) and has forwarded my email on to them.

Now we have to wait and see what decision they make. I'm worried they will reactivate it again but I will have to click on something or other, and I will be offline because we have 3 days Rosh Hashana (2 days + Shabbat) starting in about 3 hours.

Anyway, don't expect to hear from me before Saturday night my time at the earliest. I'll update you as and when.

  27. MY BLOG IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN!!! YAY!!!

They even apologized for the mistake. Once I got the correct email address they fixed it within 1 hour.

    Oy. What a broch.

Anyway, you can remove the 2nd blog address for now, but I'm going to keep that blog as a standby.

    Thanks again everyone. :) :x :x

  28. That's great Annie!

They also responded to my support request.

You evidently have friends in high places!!!

  29. Weird stuff going on these days. Google/Blogger jamming ordinary users for new identities and passwords. Strange removal of blogs by both Blogger and Wordpress. Now Facebook seems to have a "tracking" all y'all all the time problem.

Simple fact: If your PC, Mac, Tablet, or Smart Phone is "on" ... it is being watched by somebody. If you open a browser anywhere more tracking cookies get added to the pile you already have.

CCleaner is your friend, use it daily with all default settings intact.

Even then, the minute turn your device on, new watchers pile on.

    Fun innit?

Even then you ARE being observed. Period.

  30. I might add that whenever a "hosted" blog owner "moderates" or deletes a posted comment, or edits it, for decency, the deleted one will retaliate by complaining loudly to the blog host. He/she may summon other concern trolls to defame the moderator.

  31. Yay! I'm so glad, annie!

Thanks for the CCleaner link, Aridog. I'm going to use it today.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm delighted that you have your blog back annie! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Annie, could I suggest you cross-post everything you write on both locations?

If nothing else, there will be back-up if one or the other should go down again.

    ReplyDelete
  34. DWT, that's not a bad idea but I'll adapt it somewhat. I don't think I'll cross-post everything, but I will backup my blog regularly, and then it will be in place to upload to the new blog if necessary.

Actually, when Wordpress suspended my account, they left me a link to backup the blog which is what I did immediately, and which is how I managed to upload it all to the new blog.

But I am still going to work on getting a "proper" (i.e. paid-for) blog after the festivals. (That's after Yom Kippur and Sukkot). I'll keep y'all updated, don't worry.

Thanks again for the encouragement, support and advice.
