So, when I listened to "God's gonna cut you down", I knew I'd just heard it... Jeep used (licensed, I presume) the instrumental tracks in their spanking new agit prop ad for the new Grand Cherokee.
Which I'd almost like, if it wasn't the gummint spending my money to get me to buy the cars the gummint is making (with my money).
Lewy, during my wanderings o'er the internet, I came upon a site that played that ad, and it was in a comment on the thread containing it that I was introduced to this song.
And now (or at least as soon as I get my clothes folded)I am going to go do more maintenance at Mom's house. This time replacing the fascia & gutter over the back door that leads to the steps I rebuilt 2 weeks ago, before my bro-in-laws double bypass.
A short project. I arrived there and was told that the nephew who'd been slated to help had gotten home about 1/2 hour before, and was now fast asleep.
As this is not a one person job, I turned around & came back home.
Not sure why the extra "> are there, but don't worry, you'll forget it when you hear this.
ReplyDeleteI love Johnny Cash. :X
ReplyDeleteDWT, have you listened to his cover of Hurt? It's haunting...
ReplyDeleteGood selection!
ReplyDeleteI think that his later work was amazing. As if he wasn't trying to prove anything to anybody but himself. The sign of a true and gifted artist.
Hello Mike! Welcome to the Table.
ReplyDeleteCash's later work was brilliant, but yet so forlorn that it brings tears to my eyes.
Lady Red - Listening to 'Hurt' hurts.
ReplyDeleteI can't fathom the despair he voices in that song.
I own exactly one music video DVD. That would be Johnny Cash's Hurt.
ReplyDeleteAhah. Busted.

ReplyDeleteI thanked that commenter after I'd listened.
