Hey Everybody!

Meet the newest member of the Redhawk family; our rescue dog Molly!

She's such a cuddle bug! Someone abandoned her and her brother in the woods, and one of my patients took them in. Her brother was adopted out, and then Molly adopted me.

I looked at a lot of pictures on the net, and I think she's a doberman, or a doberman mix. We've never had a dog as gentle and loving as Molly! The vet my patient took her to said she's about 11 months old. She already rules the roost around here. When it's time for breakfast she climbs all over us in bed and gives us "Molly slurps". She was very thin when we brought her home, but now she's putting on weight and she loves to run and run when we're outside.

Isn't she pretty? We love her to the moon and back!

Meet Momo The Police Dog!

Look out bad guys! Momo the Chihuahua is on the job!

Momo starts work in January and will be used in rescue operations including after earthquakes, where she will be able to squeeze her tiny frame into places too narrow for traditional rescue dog

As well as her one-year contract with the force, the long-haired Chihuahua got another reward for being top dog - her owner cooked her favourite dish of chicken breasts stewed in tomatoes.

Isn't she adorable?   I wonder where she'll carry her badge...

  Two young goats wandered onto the thin ledge of a railroad bridge and spent nearly two days high above the ground until rescuers in a towering cherry picker plucked them from their perch, hungry but safe.

Call Of The Wild

June was a devastating month for the Mexican gray wolves.  The alpha male of the Hawks Nest Pack was found shot to death in Eastern Arizona, and the alpha male from the San Mateo Pack was discovered dead in New Mexico.  A third alpha male, from the Paradise Pack, has been missing since April.

In the twelve years of the reintroduction program, 32 wolves have been shot.

The Mustang Project

Nothing captures the essence of the American spirit more than a herd of wild mustangs, thundering across the plain, wild and free.  To see the wind blowing through their manes, their muscles rippling and their heads held high, brings a gasp of wonderment to the lips of the most hardened observer.

But alas, civilization encroaches upon the roaming grounds of these magnificent creatures.  There is a firestorm of controversy about how best to manage the feral horses that inhabit our backcountry.
