Friday Night Music From An Old guy

Still don't know how to do this.  Remember, I have a mind like a steel sieve.

This is in honor of the single loud peal of thunder we heard last night.

In Pennsylvania.

In February.

  1. The 'killer on the road' line gives me a great story idea.

I will add it to all the dozens of other ideas in my looseleaf notbook.

  2. Nice! This is one of my favorite Doors songs.

What thunder, what did I miss, DWT?

  3. Well, it freakin' snowed here today.

    SNOW!

    Yikes.

  4. Oh dear lord. I'm sorry you and Matt got snow...I have to say I hope it doesn't work it's way south. We just hauled 5 truckloads of storm debris away last week. Now we're working on cutting up the humongous apple tree that toppled over.

    No more snow, please, powers-that-be.

  5. How did that apostrophe get in there? I think Alphie did it.

  6. Love the Doors. However, their best album, imo, was the out-take one published after Morrison's death: "Alive She Cried"

    Nobody ever did "Gloria" better.

Old 60's dawg likes Doors, Three dog Night, CCR, and King Crimson, among many others of the general genre.

Yeah, we in uniform knew a lot of it was anti-war, and that is why we liked them ... they marked us as exceptional, because we could go out and do it. Country Joe's "Fish Cheer" was damn near an anthem in a converse sort of way ... be the first one on your block to risk coming home in a box. Kiss our asses, Hippies.

Actually, I like Patty Smith's version. It's crazier, richer. link.

  7. Wednesday it was 80 degrees here. In February! Our fruit trees have fat buds all over them, and the daffodils are blooming. I'm loving it, but also apprehensive that we may get a hard freeze in March (we usually do).

I can take the Doors in short increments; a song or two. Listening to an entire album puts me over the edge. Think of Munch's "The Scream". :)
