  1. I remember Pavol Demitra when he played for the Canucks. They interviewed some of his former team mates today and you could tell that they were absolutely gutted. Demitra was a class act.

  2. Hi Fay -

I agree, it's just a terrible Summer for hockey. I spoke to the Slovak delegation today to express condolences for team captain Demitra and they were just devastated by the news. He was a much better hockey player than most Canucks fans know, as evidenced by his leading of the Slovak team to the bronze medal game in Vancouver.

    Terrible news.

  4. My old favorite former Colorado Avs defensemen Kārlis Skrastiņš was also on the plane.

    This is just devastating.

It was announced by KHL president Alexander Medvedev that a draft will be made to create a new Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team. Every other team in the league will volunteer up to 3 players, which will create a pool of 40 to 45 players for Lokomotiv to pick from. Additionally, 5 players will be promoted from Lokomotiv's youth team.[5] Former coach Petr Vorobiev has returned to the team as its head coach.
