Now, Don't You Feel Better?

  1. In a similar vein, via a facebook friend:

I do not like this Uncle Sam, I do not like his health care scam.
I do not like these dirty crooks, or how they lie and cook the books.
I do not like when Congress steals, I do not like their secret deals.
I do not like ex-speaker Nan, I do not like this 'YES WE CAN'.
I do not like this spending spree, I'm smart, I know that nothing's free.
I do not like their smug replies, when I complain about their lies.
I do not like this kind of hope. I do not like it. nope, nope, nope.

  2. Excellent annie.

    Is your fast over?

  3. Hi Fay, yes, the fast was over last night at 8 pm (that's nearly 11 hours ago!). It wasn't bad but I anyway conserve energy on fasts - many workplaces (including mine) close for the fast, so I don't go out of the house except to a lecture about Jerusalem and Tisha B'Av, and I went there by car (with aircon). The weather has actually cooled down a little, so it's "only" around 32°C (high 80s) with "only" around 60-70% humidity. That's cool for this time of year. :)

  4. Nice, annie, the style reminds me of Dr. Seuss.

As to the Network clip, life certainly imitates art, doesn't it? Peter Finch, Faye Dunaway, William Holden, what a great cast and a great movie. I think Finch received an Oscar posthumously, IIRC.

He certainly could be speaking about 2011. The left loves to compare G. Beck to the Finch character.

  5. I like that pice, Annie. I was also going to ask about your fast but I figured it was over. The lecture sounds like it was good.

  6. The lecture was fascinating Matt. It was given by a woman who took part in the latest archaeological discoveries in Jerusalem which you can read about here (shameless self-promotion ;)) ). It really brought the reality of those days alive.

  8. LOL! You're welcome Lady Red. I got it from a FB friend but I don't know where he got it from. I wish I'd written it myself but I'm not so talented.

  9. Any plug for Annie is in no way shameless. It is well deserved! When you find such fascinating things, I want to hear about it!

  10. I can't help but wonder who dropped that sword.

Have you ever though about whether something you use would be studied by archeologists two thousand years from now?

  11. Matt, I'm trying to picture future archeologists puzzling over the significance of the knick-knacks attached to my key ring which I dropped years ago. :). They'll probably decide it was some sort of household god and write learned articles about it. :))

  12. LOL Annie.

I get a similar when feeling looking at Shorpie when they have photos of people from 100 years ago. Did it occur to those in the photo that people would be looking at the picture of them a hundred years later?

As for the artifacts in Jerusalem, I can just imagine: "Jvlivs, what do you mean you dropped you sword somewhere by the drainage ditch? Those things cost money, you know."
