It's Official!

I took my boards this week, and was issued a license this morning. I can't tell you how giddy with excitement I am! I start my shiny new job in three weeks as a member of a top-notch cardiac stepdown unit. I'm so grateful to all of you for the unflagging support and encouragement you've given me over the past few years. Yippee! Champagne for everyone!

Yes, I do love happy events -- but I love wonderful, inspiring people even more!

  3. HURRAY, Lady Red!!!!!

I knew you would do it. Passed with flying colors, I'm sure.

Now, I will get you off to a start on your career, with a question. What do you recommend I do for my herniated disk and spinal stenosis?

    1. Thanks DWT! I'm so sorry your back gives you so much trouble. :(

If you have nerve pain, ask your doc about adding Lyrica to your medications. It's worked really well in some of my patients with herniated disk.

If I have to make a guess, you also have muscle pain; knotting and tightness. Ask your doc about Flexeril, and about anti-inflammatory drugs like prednisone/prednisolone and ibuprofen. Ask him/her about adding a tricyclic antidepressant too. They do wonders for chronic pain.

Also try simple things: ice, heat, and gentle exercises to relieve tension. Getting off your feet and resting would probably do you a world of good too! And some of annie's yummy chicken soup!

I'm sending big hugs your way.

  4. Lady Red, thanks for the advice (that was what I was getting at, all medical personnel get asked for free advice).

I already have flexoril, I went through a full regimen of prednisone, and have Tramadol, now.

Both Flexoril and Tramadol help, but make me drowsy.

It is ok, until I work my one day per week (which was yesterday) at which time I am laid up for at least one day.

Not sure how this is going to go when I start back full time, next month.

    1. Thanks, Annie, it looks great! Actually very similar to my own, except my carrots are cut smaller.

Today I am going to try a cream of chicken and parsnip soup, with green onions.

Since I finally have a digital camera that works, if it turns out well, I will put up a picture.

If it does not turn out well. . .
