  1. Oh, don't make me choose! Linda's cover of Roy's classic tune is magnificent...it always gives me the chills (and I mean that in a good way).

I used to drive straight through from Del Rio, Texas (the armpit of the west) to Portland (the city of roses) several times a year for four years. I'd have the cassette player cranked up in my green-on-green Ford pickup truck, with Linda wailing her heart out. Good driving music!

I also had Roy to keep me company, as well as dozens of other greats from that era...the Eagles, Joel, Cash, Emmylou, The Band, Chicago, Skynyrd...and one of my favorites of all time; Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" album.

Lots of miles, lots of good memories. :)

  2. No comparison for me - Roy beats Linda hands down.

Also, Blogger recognized me enough to let me post the Cynthia McKinney is a @#$%$%^#$%%&!!!! thread, but not enough to let me comment here.

  3. Good grief DWT! Blogger has been very cantankerous lately. Have you tried a different browser? Blogger doesn't have too many spastic hiccups in Firefox.

  4. No need to choose lady red, that's why I posted both of them!

I can't choose either, I adore Roy but I love Linda's version of this song.

Bat Out Of Hell would be excellent road trip music :)

  5. Here is another great "driving" song. And as much as I love Roy, I like this version better than his.

  6. I like Cyndi Lauper, and her rendition of "I Drove All Night" is great. Thanks Fay! :)

  7. lady red, I've seen tons of concerts most of which I've enjoyed and the performers sounded great, better than their albums but in a way almost exactly how I expected them to sound.

Two people completely blew me away with their live performances, sounding way, way, way, better than on record.

    David Bowie was one.

    Cyndi Lauper was the other.
