Political Hate Speech Incites Even More Threats Of Violence

Alternate title, 'From Victim To Villain'.

"A Tucson mass shooting victim was taken into custody Saturday after yelling "you're dead" at a Tea Party spokesman during the taping of an ABC-TV town hall event hosted by Christianne Amanpour.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office said J. Eric Fuller, 63, was involuntarily committed to an undisclosed medical facility, NBC News reported. The Associated Press said he was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation."

Of course, this is the guy who'd already blamed Palin, the TEA Party, and anyone else to the right of Chairman Mao on national TV.

He'd also gone to the Loughner's house to "forgive them, and maybe their son.  I know it sounds crazy."

At this point, the proper thing for the right side of the web to do is to start blaming Kos, Huffpo, And all the alphabet media.  At least, in this case, there is evidence of a causal connection that was never there in the 'blame everyone but Loughner' orgy the left has engaged in for the past week.

Or maybe not. I think that the utter hypocrisy of the act speaks for itself. The broad swath of the American electorate that ebb and flow across party lines at the voting booth don't need any more finger-pointing and spit-flecked vitriol to figure out what is what.

Personally, when something this blatant occurs, I believe that conservatives should hush up. In that vacuum, the deed stands naked and alone. If we do it correctly, the far-left will be screeching and flinging their poo for months after the conservatives disengage. People will see who is quietly going about the business of restoring our country and our dignity, and who is not.

We don't have to isolate the progressives. They're doing it to themselves. We just need to stand back and give them rope. Sometimes pointing and whispering is more effective than pointing and screaming.

Oh well, random thoughts for a lazy Sunday morning...I probably need another cup of coffee or sumpthin'. Thanks for posting this DWT; it's been rattling around my mind since I saw it on the "news".

  2. Lady Red - I think it needs to be pointed out, tongue-in-cheek, before being left alone.

A little bit of nanny-nanny, boo-boo would warm the cockles of my curmudgeonly heart.

Mainly because I do not see that political speech in the US is at all overly vitriolic. Not nearly enough so from the right, in my opinion.

The left uses, constantly, verbal images of violence and murder and pure, utter hatred to decry us for daring to disagree with them.

But we are now allowing the left to define our speech as hate-filled, while theirs is not.

Very true. You're right about that.

    LMAO!!!

  4. If we did not point out this incident, little would be heard of it. People are trying to blame this situation on "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome," but I have read that this guy was looking for any excuse to make such a statement even before the Tucson shooting.

We cannot allow the left to define our speech. Anything short of "We surrender and will go away quietly while you do everything you want" is hate speech to them. As Rush Limbaugh tells new Republicans going to Washington, "Nothing you can do will make them like you. So don't worry about it."

Look at how they blame Glen Beck for the shooting. I don't hear him that often, but I have heard him say a number of times, "I implore you: do not use violence. They will turn it against us and we will lose." He is very adamant on that point. Funny way of inciting violence.

  5. Sadly, the left has already defined our speech, in my opinion. It is up to us to take it back.

Having lived here for 12 years I must tell you that Tucson is a very strange city. A Mecca for the weird is my thought. That's okay... I'm not judging.

    Exactly right, Matt.

Besides - that guy that got shot, and in turn threatened a Tea Party spokesman with death - where'd he get the idea that the Tea Party was responsible for Loughner?

He didn't get it from Glenn Beck, that's for sure.

I have no trouble with pointing this out early and often. There's a great many people who will never hear of this incident; any "progressive" who raises the whole "climate of hate" thing with me is destined to get an earful.

As for the progressive press and bloggers, they can bite me.

I couldn't agree more. Hope abides.

  8. Lewy ... I love that "bite me" essay. Bookmarked now. Perfect. It reminds of the always hysterical response by the the left every time anyone dares disagree with them.

Hell, they even deem to define what is "left" all the while many have no historical perspective. So they revise history. "Civil discourse" means one thing to the loony left ... absolute agreement with their thinking. Period.

Why, Nancy Pelosi's statement that "we have to pass it [health care] so we can find out what's in it!" ... could only make sense in that world.

Imagine going to the market to buy staples of daily living and being required to pay a enormous lump sum at the entrance door, then go shop, and collect no "change" on your way out.

    Same thing.

  9. Nancy at her best.

You see, discourse and controversy is "fog" and not to be tolerated. Just pass it (pay up) and then discover the magnificent works inside. Or not.
