LOL! I was downtown with the girls during the Gold medal Canada/US game in the Olympics last year - it was awesome! Definitely in the top five coolest things I've experienced.
Maybe the Canucks can score 3 in the third, and force the game into overtime! Maybe Thomas will get a migraine. Or Marchand will be felled by an ingrown toenail. Or Bergeron will be struck by an acute attack of 'roids.
I hope the Canucks fans behave themselves downtown. I was there in 94 and I have never been so disgusted or dissapointed or ashamed of what happened when we lost.
Ah - THAT explains the boos! I don't watch too much hockey (let alone hockey news!) and didn't know that was Bettman.
Yes - the cheering for the Canucks at the end of the game, and the cheering for the presentation of the Cup was pretty cool. Hubbie is happy (though he really isn't too much vested; it's just given friends around here something to tease him about, so he played it up a bit); his family is ecstatic - his oldest sister called us!
I'm hoping the one fire I saw on the news is all it's going to be... With 100,000 people there, an awful lot of innocents could get hurt if jerks start something. :-(
Bettman keeps his job because he greases the palms of the right people. To think that money from Canucks fans is sent to keep Bettman's excursions into markets where hockey is not wanted is disgusting. Perhaps Canucks fans can file a class action suit against the NHL. Why should they pay through the nose to keep franchises such as Phoenix alive? And to think that when Vancouver plays Phoenix, employees of the owners of the Coyotes are calling the game.
I saw him about six weeks ago being interviewed after he was at some official event and they asked him how he felt being booed. He responded by saying that he didn't hear anyone booing LOL!

I hope so too. I was caught up in the fracas in 94 and it wasn't pleasant.
I think I just saw Fay and Matt in the crowd...they were wildly waving their white towels, cussing a blue streak, and sipping champagne. ;))

ReplyDeleteBut this? The crowds for this are unbelievable!
We just got home, the traffic was uneffingbelievable. We go in the opposite direction from downtown but both directions were crazy maaaaaaaaaaaad!
ReplyDeleteNow it's 1-0 for Bawston. OMG I can't stand anymore stress and strain...
Thanks for the thread lady!
Oh my goodness...that Marchand character has scored again. Grrr...
ReplyDeleteC'mon Canucks! Get one by Thomas!
Crap. Now Bergeron has scored. His second goal of the night. Luongo is having a tough time. :(
ReplyDeleteOh my - not shaping up to be a good night for the Canucks...
ReplyDeleteNot only did he score lady red, he scored a short handed goal, crap.
ReplyDeleteOkay we're toast. I'm hanging up my Canucks hat and waiting for next year.
Thanks for the ride boys, it was fun.

ReplyDeleteHeh.
Yeah - don't think they're going to come up with 4 in a minute...
ReplyDeleteCondolences to Canucks fans, congratulations to Bruins fans.
LOL. Can't hear the announcer for the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup over the boos...
ReplyDeleteGawd everyone hates Bettman. How he's kept his job this long is a mystery.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty classy of the Canucks fans to cheer when Boston were handed the cup.
I bet Mr. Lyana is pretty happy eh?

Lyana, every hockey fan of every club absolutely HATES Bettman! Doesn't matter where he is or what he does, he gets boooed.

ReplyDeleteHis pocket is full enough. Why should he care if he is destroying a league?

I was caught up in the WTO riots of 1999, and it was not fun. I do not condone such behavior, either.
ReplyDeleteNot good.
ReplyDeleteThe NHL is a bush league managed by a bunch of good ol' boys. That is no excuse to take it out on innocent parties.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's horrible that they're trashing their own town. :-(
ReplyDeleteThe 94 team had me heart and soul. We were the underdogs and we clawed our way to a 7th game.
ReplyDeleteWe lost by one goal, in the 7th game. Talk about heartbreak.
Oh, it's horrible that they're trashing their own town. :-(
ReplyDeleteTerrible and disgusting and unnecessary.
"Terrible and disgusting and unnecessary."
ReplyDeleteSo is Gary Bettman heading the NHL.
