Mephedrone is usually a white or yellowish powder, which is snorted, but can also be obtained in pills and capsules. Its is sold online as plant food.
Side-effects include headaches, palpitations, nausea, high blood pressure, a burning throat, nose bleeds and purple joints, especially the knees and hands.
Other side-effects are said to include psychosis, weight loss and insomnia. It can be bought for as little as £5 a gramme.
Yikes. Bad stuff. I wonder why it turns joints purple?

ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm sorry for the loss of their teen. But you can't legislate against idiocy. I can't even say it was bad parenting as some families have mostly great kids and then there's the bad sheep. I guess parents just have to be cops with their kids because I don't want to live in a pablum society where everything that's potentially harmful is banned.
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough the warnings manufacurers have to put on labels like "not food" on the freshness packet in vitamins or "do not drink" on jars of ink.
FFS, just educate people and spend time with your teens so they aren't off doing this kind of crap.
