Victims of Silent Spring

More than 38,800 cases of Dengue reported in the Philippines, this year, with at least 226 deaths,  as usual, mostly children.

So, once again, those who banned the most effective mosquito control chemical in history have blood on their hands.

This time, in too many homes, it is a Silent Summer, with no sounds of running and laughing children.

As an aside, of importance to me. Warrior's grandson was bitten by an infected mosquito a couple of weeks ago and contracted Dengue fever.

This child already has TB Primary Complex, and it is children of ill-health who usually die from the disease, so there was a LOT of stress last week, while he was in the hospital with a spiking fever, abdominal and joint pain and a terrible itchy rash on his legs.

All they can do is palliative care, as there is no cure for Dengue, just as for any other virus in existence.

But, Thank God he did not develop the hemorrhagic version, and thereby bleed to death, internally.

So, at 3 years and 8 months, he is paler and thinner, but alive.

  1. DWT, I'm so glad that Warrior's grandson is okay. Dengue is a brutal disease.

In this day and age, you would think our scientists could develop a way to ERADICATE the mosquito entirely. Nothing good ever comes from mosquitoes.
