On A LIghter Note...

Our four year old granddaughter entered a pinewood derby race last night at a "Music On The Square" community event. There were about fifty kids that participated. She built and painted her own car, and won a third place trophy! How fun is that?

Sometimes life is very VERY good.

  1. She was so excited and proud! Maybe she'll follow in the footsteps of Danika Patrick, or better yet... make brand new trails of her own. :)

  4. What a beautiful child. And ... she looks like she will equal Danica Patrick in the looks department when older, no matter what new trails she might blaze.

Pssst: I am a dirty old man seldom, but in the case of Danica Patrick ... let's just say strong women with an athletic bent, a tad of looks, and brains tend to still interest me, heh heh ... but I long ago learned where home is ... as they say. Now some one please to wipe the droll from my chin. It's my runny nose I tells ya!! :D

  8. Hey, well done Emma! (It is Emma isn't it?).

What a beautiful little girl and great talent as well - a winning combination for all the family. :)

  9. Every year, at my store, I help far too many fathers who are building their child's Pinewood Derby Cars. It has become almost as absurd as the current crop of fiberglass bodied, pro-built 'Soapbox' Derby cars.

My STRONG congratulations to your grand-daughter on building her own, and doing so well in the competition.

I only wonder how many pissed off dads there were who spent 40 plus hours building their childs car, only to see it beaten by an obviously kid-built entry.

    Good for her.

  10. Oh, and she is a beautiful little girl.

Grandpa, make sure the shotgun is loaded and ready when this one turns about 13.

  11. Dances, you are right. That car does look like hers -- and it looks GOOD. I think that comes from a family of winners who know how to stand up for themselves and make their own mark.

I remember when my son was in Cub Scouts (and now he is married -- sniff-) I made sure he did most of the work. I may have done something small, but it was his car for the most part.

Thems was good times, and I think the result (my son, not his car) turned out pretty good.
