I hesitated to put this on my Facebook when I saw it earlier, because I KNOW some people will take it wrong and think I'm saying people who don't pay their mortgages should be patted and given more help. Um, no.
At least, not as a general rule.
But the banks have been absolute assholes about so much of this, I *LOVE* to see them have to deal with their own treatment!
Oh, now if someone would just start forcing TSA officers to get molested and forced to pose for nudie pix...
I agree, AFW, if someone does not pay their mortgage, that is their problem. Case here is these people never had a mortgage -- but the bank wanted to foreclose anyway.
Is it a general rule that when banks screw up it is nearly impossible to get them to fix their mistake? Many years ago I went through the hassle of trying to get my bank to fix a 2 cent error (which was in my favor). The teller simply couldn't understand my concern over such a small amount, but I persisted as I knew that 10 years down the road I would receive a letter from the bank that I owed them a bazillion dollars in fees over that 2 cent glitch. Another time, I started getting monthly $10 fees on my account. After 3 or 4 months of calling the bank to get the fee removed, I finally discovered the cause of the fees; they had somehow managed to link my father's business account to my checking account (we both used different branches of the same bank). That one was ridiculously difficult to straighten out. When I finally did get it fixed I immediately closed my account.
Oh, I know, Matt! This was 100% the people's favor. Unfortunately, there are too many people who don't read past the headline I put up and then assume rather than commenting on facts.
I don't want to deal with the arguments anymore.
I wish I could have gone and cheered these people on.
Aside: We use USAA. I love them almost as much as I love my children. I love them so much, it might be illegal in more than a few states. They are wonderful.
Also - they've opened their restrictions to even more people (I think to military brats, even adults, and others). So, if you're considering a new bank... :)
afw, I love USAA too, I've been a member since I was 18...that would make it 40 years now! They are the best company, hands down. I remember we emailed about them several years ago and I'm glad to see you feel the same way.
As much as I love USAA, I hate Chase. They took over Washington Mutual when they failed. We have had an acct. with them for a couple decades.
Last month I went to Chase to get a money order. The snooty 20-something barely looked at me or responded to my inquiry. Not looking away from her computer screen she said 'money orders and cashier's checks are now $5". I said that I had just recently gotten one and it's always been free. Still looking at the computer she said "We changed our fees in February". I said "More great customer service from Chase!".
I'm not usually a cantankerous grump, in fact, I make it a point to smile and be friendly to anyone I meet in public. But when they start giving me uncalled-for shyte, watch out.
Oh happy day! There is some justice in the world, after all.
ReplyDeleteAwesome find, Matt, it made my morning and I'm going to share this one for sure.

ReplyDeleteIt's satisfying to see BofA take one on the chin. Now if someone could unload a roundhouse punch on Goldman/Sachs, I'd be a very happy woman.

Sounds like, Chase, Alphie.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's always a piddling sum unless you OWE it to them!
