I'm off to see the surgeon,
The wonderful surgeon of gall. (bladders)
Although I really must admit,
I'd rather not go at all.

Anyway, a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy awaits, and finally, at the age of 61&1/2, I will not have all my original parts.

It is a 'short-stay' procedure, and I should be home late this afternoon.

Wish me luck.

  1. May you be well and flourish. By now you may be in recovery and later, at home. Some how I've managed to keep all my body parts, so far, but you cannot mess with the gall bladder, due to its connection to the liver...I would be doing the same thing.

  2. I hope everything went great DWT! I'm sure you'll feel much better without that pesky rascal.

  4. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Dances.

I was separated from my adenoids at age 4, haven't been whole since.

  5. Well, this was interesting. I have FIVE laparoscopic incisions. He had some adhesions to cut away. I have more lovely pictures of my internals with the tools he used cutting things.

Had some trouble last night, apparently I did not hydrate myself enough on Monday, so Was having bad reactions (my fault, not the surgeons) and they were talking about catheterizing (yay). But instead I just drank a lot of water & juice.

Now it is just soreness, and my abdomen looks like I've been stabbed multiple times with a very thin blade.

  7. I hope you're up and dancing with typos soon as well. The hardest part is the first time they get you up to walk! Hang in there, prayers going your way.

  8. Wishing you a speedy and easy recovery Dances and hope that you are up and about and dancing around in no time. My MIL had the same op by laparoscopy a few years ago and I was amazed at her speedy recovery, and she was in her 80s at that stage.

  9. Well, I am up and about, actually was, in a limited way, yesterday, to drive my sister to work, though the rest of the day was spent either reading or playing games online.

I removed the outer, gauze bandages this morning, and showered for the first time since the surgery, (there was a cheer of joy throughout the neighborhood) cleaned out the fridge, and will go off and do some minor grocery shopping this morning.

Including the two incisions from the prior, essentially diagnostic laparoscopy, I have now seven small scars, that look like the aftermath of a stiletto attack.

Thanks to all for your good wishes

    1. Dances, I'm so sorry to hear that. Both Nicole and Austin are in my prayers.

    2. I'm so sorry Dances. Austin and Nicole, and both families, will be in my prayers. There have been huge strides in the treatment of NHL, both the aggressive type and the indolent type. May they both find the strength to go through this tough time hand-in-hand.

    3. I'll add Nicole to my prayers as well, DWT.

  11. I've done a little googling since posting this, and did not realize there were so many types. They are doing chemo therapy on her, and we are all hoping for good results.

Even worse than Austin's possible loss, is the fact that she has 2 kids from a prior marriage, just entering their teens, and well, this is even worse for them
