Wednesday Musical Interlude

  1. Sorry to start with an off-topic comment, but wanted to let you all know that I am going in for minor surgery tomorrow "Diagnostic laparoscopy, possible Spigelian hernia repair, possible excision of Lipoma.

All based on a largish lump that suddenly appeared on my right side about 5 weeks ago. The consensus is the rather unusual hernia, which I have a history of, but with the possibility of the fatty tumor (lipoma).

Which one it is will be determined after the laparoscopy.

I'll let you know tomorrow evening (if I'm not too groggy) what it was and how it went

    1. OR, None of the above. The discharge diagnosis was Abdominal Adhesions and Chronic Cholecystitis.

The adhesions are odd because they are usually caused by tissue growth after an illness or injury, but he did cut them loose, so my lump, and the accompanying soreness is greatly reduced.

The Cholecytitis is more worrisome. It is an enlarged and irritated gall bladder. I can live without that, so it is not Too worrisome if it must be removed.

The odd part of this problem is that it is usually diagnosed via ultrasound, and I had one of those when the lump first appeared and it showed nothing in my gall bladder.

So I continue with my string of somewhat odd medical conditions

    2. Given a choice between "odd" and the other alternatives, I go with "odd" every time.

Sucks to get cut but I'm glad you got some relief from the adhesions!

I've heard fatty foods irritate the gall bladder but I'll leave that analysis for folks who actually know what they're talking about (which I know I do not).

Glad to see you seem to have come through it ok!

    3. If the ultrasound showed nothing in the gall bladder, you probably don't have gall stones or a blocked duct. Ask your doc if you should stay away from fatty or greasy foods, even whole milk. It might cut down on the pain.

You may have to get the gall bladder removed. No biggie these days. The docs use a laparoscope, and go in through the belly button. :)

I really hope you feel better soon!

  4. Melanie is insanely good. Turns out she's got a good start to her career; a $5M recording contract and she debuted on Broadway last month.

Her bio in wiki is great reading.

Now... about that judge Nicole... in the wiki entry next to "Absolutely Lewy's Type" is her picture. Prrrrrrr....

    1. I like your taste in judges, Lewy. Sigh, if only I were not so old

    3. And she won the Mirror Ball Trophy on Dancing With The Stars. But then she was partnered with the best pro on the show, Derek Hough.

  5. OK, Gus just left. He came by to visit old Dad in his decrepitude. While here he took the big AC out of the window (beyond my lifting capacities, just now, although I did put it in, when I was young & healthy about 5 months ago.

He also charged my phone for me in his car, with the charger that just would not work in my car for some reason
