Slip Slidin' Away

Um...run that by me again?
Ángela Bachiller recently became Spain's first city councillor with Down Syndrome. Aged 30, Bachiller had already been working for two and a half years at Valladolid City Hall as an administrative assistant.
Keep in mind that virtually all Down Syndrome folks possess low IQs and varying degrees of mental retardation. Then this:
Following a hectic first week on the job, Bachiller is now taking a holiday with her family in Mallorca.
Alrighty then.

I ran across this gem in the WSJ:
In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America’s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory.
The policy is called, "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing." It will require HUD to gather data on segregation and discrimination in every single neighborhood and try to remedy it.
That's right. The Gov't is going to "remedy" it. People living in failed communities will be injected into nice neighborhoods. I wonder if the gubmint will gather up destitute Appalachian "crackers" and foist them upon successful black neighborhoods as part of this doomed-to-fail social experiment? Probably not.

I've been saying for quite some time that the only way to beat these effers at their own game is to consistently claim any "minority" genes you can scrape from the bottom of the genetic barrel. Go to 23 and Me, spend the hundred bucks, and let 'em sort through your cheek-swab cooties for that .01% of sub-Saharan African or that tiny drop of East Asian/Native American. Then CHECK THE BOX on all government forms.

There! I'm a subversive plus I'm WAY out on the political un-correctness limb! WOOT!

Today's levity:

  1. There may be a problem with checking of a minority box on those anonymous forms that always seem to have a way of being tracked back to you anyway: leftists in government do not think that minorities are capable of taking care of themselves, so you may doom yourself to a lifetime of having your life micromanaged by the government if you try it.

    1. Pfft. The gov't already has its nose in everything I do. A pox on them, I say! :-)

  2. I guarantee you that the (near) all white enclaves in the East Coast won't be affected. It will be certain congressional districts in Red States which will get the scrutiny. Guaranteed.

It's an awful nickname, but the very upscale suburb south of Portland known as Lake Oswego is known around here as "Lake NoNegros" - a reference to the fact that it's even whiter than the extremely white Portland area.

And I'm assuming (although I don't know this first hand with any statiistical certainty) that it's extremely liberal and donates to the Democrats. Fat chance that HUD starts trying to desegregate Lake Oswego. In fact, it would be an excellent point of agitation. But, again, the reality is that black families are being gentrified out of their historic areas in North and Northeast Portland by artsy white hipsters, and driven into the miserable areas past the airport - cut off from the rest of the city by I-205. Out of sight, out of mind.

Last election there was a candidate for mayor who was an articulate and passionate advocate for those people. Hell I would have voted for him, at least he was genuine-liberal, authentic, for real. He ran against a delusional liberal real-estate mogul and a delusional-liberal "entrepreneur" who was arguably a bit of a resume-padder. Sadly the authentic, for real liberal guy turned out to have a problem harassing women. The real-estate mogul got elected.

    MOAR LIYTRAEL! YAI!

I give this place another three years before the wheels come off...

...but maybe not... How California staggers forward under the weight of its collective insanity is beyond me. But as a regional competitor for tech jobs / money it's still tough. It's very, very hard to hire VP/Director level people away from there. Go figure.

    1. Can't wait for them to "desegregate" Detroit. Then come on over to my town and "desegregate" some Arabs. BTW...I want no one messing with my end of town, if it were not for the Arabs of Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen, we would be living in an extended Detroit ghetto...instead of a village atmosphere with new buildings and businesses.

All liberal progressive do-gooders hit the border and keep on moving...you ARE NOT wanted here.

    2. BTW...way back in the early days, the term "Urban Renewal" was known as "Negro Removal."

    3. I don't think the Ozarks will be cheering this scheme either aridog, especially the Chicago transplants fleeing the gangs and violence. There are thousands upon thousands of them retired here, and they're democrats. For now.

Between housing "desegregation" and amnesty, this state could turn from a pale red to a vivid, fire-engine red in 2014 and 16. One can hope.

  3. On the topic of the terror alert: I'm of the opinion that the terror alert is based on real intel. See this article in The Long War Journal.

    1. Real intel indeed. And we react appropriately for today. "What difference, at this point, does it make anyway?"

  4. Is it just me, or does Obama look and act stoned lately? His eyes are all funky like he's been tokin' the gold.

Maybe he's just sleepy. All that golfing and vacationing can wear a guy down.

    1. Maybe he is realizing what he has been doing and he just can't sleep at night.

      I doubt it.

    2. I think he's just worried about how he will broach the idea of a third term to the public.

All these "phony" scandals suddenly become a CRISIS and all that about changing mid-stream blah blah.

Mark. My. Word. On. This. One.

He already has a Congress with no real appropriative powers (budget) for 5 years now, and a Supreme Court deathly afraid of being "Andrew Jackson'ed," a Department of Justice that has refined selective enforcement to unheard of degrees, and a military now staffed at the highest flag rank levels with political generals and admirals, and SES civilians, who specialize more in cake than fighting or protecting anyone. Benghazi was not an accident, it was on purpose.

It is merely a semantics drill to distinguish between autocracy and aristocracy...and out highest court has already flunked Semantics 101.

Yeah, I'm in a cynical and shitty mood today.
