Mickey Kaus breaks Ted Cruz's code.

Q: If Ted Cruz was play acting his opposition to "comprehensive immigration reform", placating important GOP donors (who love cheap labor) and maximizing his political chances by raking in money while distracting the Tea Party base with red meat rhetoric and quixotic quests, what would he be doing?

A: Oh, right. Exactly what he's doing.

Read the whole thing. [It's short.]

  1. Um, no. I'm not blaming Cruz for this mess. I think he's doing a fine job. In fact, I wish my own "conservative" senator would be so vocal. Boozman "goes along to get along".

The good news is that Arkansas may elect another young gun to stand with Cruz/Paul. Tom Cotton has a good chance of unseating Mark Pryor. That would be HUGE.

  2. Kaus could be right, he certainly has some good arguments. BUT his thinking that actual conservatives do not have the capacity to strongly oppose both 0care and amnesty shows his low opinion of us, more than it speaks to any duplicity on the part of Cruz.
