  2. I was going to comment lewy, but then I haven't been following the protest so didn't know much about it.

I had looked up capuling and found the most interesting take on it from a commenter, D.D. ~

"Çapulcu" which is pronounced as "cha-pool-joo" is a person who is a derelict, a looter, a raider, a plunderer... When the protests started the prime minister called the protestors "çapulcu" without even listening to our demands and the reasoning behing this all.

During the protests a lot of funny and sarcastic slogans have been written everywhere with spray paints. You know, in order to make fun of it all and to give positive motivation and also to piss off the police and the govt more.

I remember one 'duuude this pepper gas is awesome!' . when police started using orange gas there was a writimgg that said 'so you ran out ta gas? Dontcha have strawberry??' Etc... So one guy made a pun and combined the word 'shuffling' with 'çapulcu' and came up with 'çapuling.'

I figured with the cedilla it was a French thing...
