Applause!
L'chaim, Cheers, Bottoms Up, Here's Looking At You, Sláinte! A Celtic toast to lady red RN, and Mr. lady red, LPN:
May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
And smootches:
Oops I forgot the flowers!

You didn't forget them, I was still out picking them so they would be fresh!
ReplyDeleteGood work Lady Red!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAnd "Nurse Red" sounds so...
... um...
... completely awesome!
In all seriousness: I think it's safe to say that we here at the Table are completely in awe of you and are enormously inspired by your example.
I know I am!
Oh. Perfect. We need to get you one of these...
DeleteLMAO! Lewy, that's very cute, but I'd have to subtract 30 years and add 3 cup sizes to get away with that case! :))
Deletelewy, lol!!! I'll chip in!
DeleteBut seriously, Nurse Red kinda makes me think of Nurse Rached, you know? I think we better stick with Nurse Lady Red ;-)
Aww, thanks so much Fay and everyone!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have made this journey without your support. There were times I thought I'd lost all my marbles just to attempt such a crazy thing! I was so afraid of falling flat on my face that I overachieved; I'll be graduating with a program scholar braid, and I was named Clinical Student of the Year for my program. Whoop! You could have bowled me over with a feather!
I still have to pass my NCLEX boards, and I'm hoping to get a testing date sometime in January. The best part to all of this is: I've been offered an RN position at a hospital a few towns away from where I live! Their RN residency program doesn't start until the first week in March, so I have a little down time to recoup my sanity.
My cup truly overfloweth. I love you all so much...thanks for cheering me on!
I'm not a bit surprised by the scholar braid and Student of the Year. Double kudos, my friend!!
DeleteMazal tov Lady Red! What a fantastic result! I'm so happy for you, and so proud of you. I feel quite verklempt.. :). I am in awe of you. I wish I had your courage to take a completely different direction in the middle of my life.
ReplyDeleteLet me add my Lechaim to your celebrations.

I sure could not have done what you accomplished, LRRN. We are all proud of you.
ReplyDeleteA perfect tribute to our dear lady red, Fay.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all you have accomplished, you are truly an inspiration and I know you will find great success, lady red. Nurses are one of the most important careers in the world and your kind and caring ways will make you shine. I'm so happy for you! xoxoxo
Lady Red, that is wonderful news, awesome and fantastic news!!
ReplyDeleteAnd how nice you will have the holidays all to yourself, so relax and enjoy your hard won success.
Absolutely first rate! Congratulations, l.r.!- that credential is a real accomplishment. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLady Red - I was already deeply impressed before reading about the extra awards.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
Thank you so much everyone! Noah and I are ecstatic, and ready to begin our new careers. We think we'll make a pretty good team!
ReplyDeleteOnce this week is over, and all the shindigs are done, I think we're going to escape for a day or two. Maybe a little trip down to Natchitoches would be nice; it's so pretty there. :-)
So's Vancouver. Alas, but not as close.
DeleteCongratulations, Lady Red! I know you are going to make a very fine RN. And we badly need them!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you are interested in this, but many Skilled Nursing Facilities in smaller or more remote states use travelling nurses to cover vacations and other absences by their staffs. These "travellers" usually form their own companies, usually a LLC, get licensed in each state and then go work here and there for 30 or 60 days at a time. They are paid at a pretty good rate, including hotels and per diem, and most take about 3 months off out of the year.
Thanks Jourdan! Noah and I are both interested in travel nursing, but for now we we'll be working close to home. We have family obligations here that are our primary focus. I can easily foresee a bit of travel nursing in the future though!
DeleteBetter late than never...congratulations Lady Red!! Nurses and RN's in particular have a special place in my heart due to the number of times I've needed them. If you can find an old copy of Country Joe Mcdonald's "The Girl Next Door"...listen to it and you'll know why I admire nurses so much.
ReplyDelete[ PS...I'd link it here but it's only available in a truly poor recording on Joe's "Juke Box" (Real Player ... crappy format IMO)website. It's much better on the album "Vietnam Experience." ]
