Eschewing Emotional Equanimity

Well, here I am, again.

It's the middle of the night, literally.

All meds are gone, and I woke in pain.  I've taken an over-sized dosage of advil, and have been trying to follow Lewy's advice about finding a 'don't give a shit' place inside my soul.

Instead, I found this, from the Weekly Standard, regarding spending levels on poverty programs.

Seems the only thing said programs are accomplishing is the impoverishment of the taxpayer.

  1. Dances, don't know if it's your thing or not, but this "deleted scenes" clip from Family Guy was funny for me.

  2. Has anyone clicked the Weekly Standard link?

That is the main thrust of the thread. The Mallard Fillmore cartoon was just illustrative of that story.

    1. I read most of it, DWT, but found it so depressing. I can only read so much about what our government is doing, the reckless spending, the waste and thievery. Just makes me more incredulous than ever that more than 50% of the country voted to reelect this incompetent empty suit.

OT though...I just heard about another psycho with a gun at a Portland mall. I hope lewy, his family and friends are all safe.

  4. DWT, I am very, very sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope you get better.

On the Oregon shooting, when I think of all the times I've been in that mall with my family....terrible. I about fell off my chair when I turned on the local news and saw a picture of the Clackamas Town Center main entrance.

  5. Fay and I were doing a quick run to the grocery store once. We got to the little mall right after there was a mob hit there. We managed to get in and out before the police shut the place down and did not let anybody leave.
