Truth, Lies, and Afghanistan

Well, this isn't very cheerful...

Read the whole thing.

  1. I had bookmarked this to post as well. How discouraging. Although I applaud the colonel for his courage to speak his mind.

  2. The courage of his convictions, unlike the Chicago community organizer. I see by the news this morning that the JEM is now embracing (and will fully utilize, no doubt about that) super PACs - after he had the cojones to stand up in the SotU address two years ago and chastise the Supremes for their decision regarding PACs while they sat listening.

Is there any public statement this guy stands by? Oh yeah - "I need another 4 years".

    What a slug.

    Sorry to go OT, lewy.

  3. A depressing and demoralizing read.

But he is right that the American public certainly does deserve to know.

From the dates he gives, it seems as though blame can be laid on both the current and prior administrations, but it is the current one which will be able to say we are the ones who got our troops out!

And the timing is such that I am certain a great deal will be made of Obama's stated desire to withdraw one year earlier than was previously announced.

In any case, if this analysis is correct (and I cannot imagine a LtCol engaging in such an {almost certain} career crusher if it was not) then yes, let's get our people out ASAP, along with the Charity worker types who will be left to the non-existent mercies of a reformed Talib government.

But I will always feel sorry for, and guilty about, all the Afghan women and girls who were beginning to get just a tiny taste of life as an actual, valued, human being, only to have it snatched away from them again.

Apparently it is also the final nail in the Neo-Con coffin, when it comes to any thought that people would rather be free, given the chance, or at least that they would work for it, or fight for it.

  4. In this day and age of political correct sheeple, it's refreshing to hear from a man with the cojones to shine a spotlight on how bad things are in Afghanistan.

He's a brave soul. I'm sure the repercussions of his blunt honesty will be swift and harsh.
