  1. Congrats Matt! Love the tune selection.

Now - on the topic of "kids these days" - this pretty young woman has been working very hard on her talent. Impressive, if... questionable... link.

  2. Yes, congratulations to Matt!

Nice selection, Fay; gosh, it's been about 30 years since I heard that song, lol!

  4. Jackson Browne! In the seventies, I played "Running On Empty" until the tape kinked and spooled off of the cassette. Good stuff.

Matt, how do you like working with actual patients, and applying your knowledge and skill? Congratulations on your first practicum day! It's a huge milestone!

  5. MATT! Woot! How awesome!

I congratulate you, but really it's those of us who will need care in the future that win when you succeed.

  6. It got so busy at times that I felt the need to go and talk to people and help them if I could, but at least explain who I was and that they were not being ignored if I couldn't help them. One young woman had a pair of glasses that needed adjustment, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. It turns out that she was a fourth-year nursing student so she knew where I was coming from. She told me that she had thrown up on her first day of clinical, so she fully understood my limitations.

I straightened the glasses of a 12 year old girl who had been hit in the face with a basketball. When I got them straightened and cleaned, she beamed like I had given her a fairy tale castle complete with Prince Charming. That was great. There was an older man whose temples were bent. I straightened them out and he was grateful as well. Sometimes I felt like a fifth wheel, but overall, I think I did good.

Fay was in to do some shopping and stopped by to see me. I told my preceptor that my wife had come by. He said, "Oh, that was your wife?" I replied, "No, all my customers come by and scratch me on the shoulder." He laughed.

I think I am going to like it there.

  7. Congratulations Matt! You should be so proud of yourself, and Fay too! I can't tell you how much I admire you for picking yourself up in the middle of your life and starting all over again. That goes for Lady Red too.

It's so great that you enjoyed the actual practice. It must be a wonderful feeling to get such immediate feedback from your patients.
