I'm so happy to see this support though. I love Canada, we're compatriots, separated by a common language although we're all aboot the same things, eh?
If lewy or Matt has any helpful suggestions for me about youtube videos, I'd appreciate it. My downloads are up-to-date, my malware as well. Some videos work fine, others just keep uploading and never play. MmKthx :-)
Florrie, I was having trouble with youtube videos embedded in other sites (not on the YouTube site itself though). I googled the problem and I was told to clear my cookies and cache. So I did, and it solved the problem.
Give it a try. I'm interested to hear if it works for you too.
Thank you, annie. I tried that as well; I can't watch on youtube either. I looked up this video on other sites and it just keeps loading, you know - that little circle of dots in the middle just keeps spinning. Other videos, on the other hand, load just fine.
If you can play some videos, and not others... and it's always the same videos with the problem... ...then the problem is likely not with your computer. It could be the YouTube CDN network... what's a CDN you ask? (First paragraph or two will tell you plenty.)
Occasionally I've run into the same problem. See if it clears up in a few hours or tomorrow.
If it's _not_ always the same videos that have the problem, then it could be a spotty network connection, or some flakiness with your ISP.
If you can play _some_ videos, your computer is very likely fine.
Wow - awesome rendition. I just saw a segment on Bloomberg news which mentioned this; I thought to come look it up and post a video... and boom, Matt was on it already. Outstanding.
Thank you for the info, lewy. It's always the same videos. The weird part is...I first noticed it the other night when I was on youtube and tried to play this video that I posted here previously! It will not play now. Tom sent me a video later that evening and I got the same result. However, when I play other videos on the youtube site, they work fine.
Can you watch the video on another computer with the same connection? If so, it's not the ISP or the Youtube CDN, but is your computer after all somehow.
I just watched it on Tom's computer, lewy. Thanks for the help, I'll just try to find out why I can watch some and not others. I didn't have this problem until last week.
I've probably spilled too much coffee and pretzel crumbs in my keyboard...
OK, then it's your machine - and something specific to those vids.Try different browser? I know you said you cleared out all caches / cookies etc, maybe worth another try...
Damn, it won't play for me.

Delete*sigh*
Hmmm, I'll have to defer to Vikram for help on this.
ReplyDeleteOK, thanks Matt, I'll wait for Vikram...

ReplyDeleteComcast is our ISP so it's probably them?

DeleteGreat video! Our northern neighbors have always been there for us; now it's our turn. We love you Canada!
ReplyDeleteIt worked! Fanks for the help, annie & lewy.
