Let's Have Pie!

I finally finagled my budget around enough to buy a Breville pie maker! I just ordered it today, and it should be in by the end of next week. I'm so excited! AFW loved hers so much that I know it will be a big hit with my family too.

Here's the linkypoo to Williams-Sonoma. Warning: the shipping, handling, and taxes will cost you a boatload. It came to over $28 bucks for the pie maker, cookbook, and nifty little pie-taker-outer gizmo, for a grand total of $161. *faint*

  1. I'm thinking that I can make pot pies and meat pies and freeze them. It would be so much healthier and yummier than coming home late and tired, and throwing a dead frozen pizza in the oven. Bleh.

I was also thinking that for Thanksgiving, I can make each family member their favorite pie, and freeze some extra pies for them to take home. :)

I can't wait to play with it! Goodness knows what kind of concoctions I'll come up with!

  2. Matt, you're right! There will be some serious chowing going on, and I'm sure naps will be had by all. :))

Hmm, I wonder if I could use mashed taters as a top crust? As in shepherd's pie?

  6. Pfft, $161 is peanuts! I paid almost $200 a month ago for a roasting pan...

    Worth every penny. Yes really.

  8. lady red, if you have us all over for pie - you'd better hope we don't stay too long or you'll need steel reinforced couches... 'cause I can eat plenty of pie...

We had a pie tasting in our building yesterday hosted by a local. Folks were ordering pumpkin pie with maple-bacon infused crust for Thanksgiving deliver. I love apartment life.

  9. Awesome, lady red!

Fay, let me know how you like that roasting pan, I see they have a special until the end of the year and I might ask Tom to get me one for Christmas...

  10. Oh, I LOVE the roaster Fay! I have a cheapo that I bought years ago, and it's not quite big enough for a full-size turkey, so I always end up buying the throw away aluminum roasters.

    Maple-bacon infused crust? Yum!!!

  11. florrie, the roasting pan is fabulous. Very easy to lift in and out of the oven with those big sturdy handles and the lip around the edge makes it easy to pour out the pan juices, gravy etc. Plus it's a breeze to clean.

    HINT TO TOM:

BUY THIS PAN FOR YOUR WIFEY!

lady red, I don't know wht I waited so long to buy myself a decent roaster but I'm glad I finally got round to it!

  12. Even though the very thought of anything aside from honey toast at the moment makes me kinda ill - Future Not-Sick AFW says you will LOVE your pie maker! We use ours at least once a week. And we thought we'd do a booming business in dessert pies, but we've been almost exclusive for hearty pies.

I mean, I've always been a fan of pot pies, but these turn out SO GOOD. It's amazing. Like magic.

Funny aside: when we bought ours, we had about 6 or 7 Marie Callender's pies in the fridge for, "Mommy Doesn't Feel Like Cooking" days. Those stayed in there for months. I had to threaten the kids to get them to eat the pies so that they were cleared out. They just didn't want anything to do with them anymore.

The home made pies also look so pretty!

    Congratulations, lady red!
