  2. OK, who can name the song this riff is from:

DAHN DAHN DAHN - DAHN DAHN DA DAHN. DAHN DAHN DAHN - DAHN DA DAHN.

  5. I am more a magician on the air bass, though. Sometimes a good riff drives me to the six-stringed cousin.

And don't forget my Happy Dance, although Fay would like to.

  7. Ah, but she can't, now can she?

BTW- How's school treating you? I hope it's going well. I'm taking just one night class (as a non-degree student at the moment) and it will likely keep me more than busy this fall.

Learnin's a bit harder than it was 20 years ago.

  8. 20 years ago? Try 32! The big problem I have is how piss poor the text books are. I found an error in the answer to a trigonometry question last week. This week I found an error in the text of another book. If texts have so many mistakes, no wonder I had such a hard time in school.

It's hard to keep enthused when the people teaching you are so sloppy.

  9. Ok, so you have a few years on me. At least you know an error when you see one. Not sure I'd pick up on an mistake in my textbook.

The only consolation I have is that I managed to get the book a lot cheaper than all the kids who bought it at the school bookstore.

  10. The school bookstore is a heckuva racket. They'll sell you a used text for $150, then buy it back for twenty bucks at the end of the semester. Or, the school changes texts, so they won't buy it back at all, and it becomes an expensive dust-catcher on your shelf.

I buy most of my books from Amazon.

I guess my biggest disappointment with school is the focus on cultural diversity/social justice crap in EVERY class. It stinks, and it's a waste of my time and hard-earned dollars. Just give me meat-and-potatoes, and leave the leftist drivel to the social work majors with the 2.0 GPAs.

Was that harsh? It's true. At my school, the folks who can't make the grade are shunted into teaching (yikes!) and social work. Heaven help us all.

(PS- I know that there are excellent teachers and heroic social workers out there in the trenches doing a fine job. My comment is not a reflection on them, but an observation about the academic standards of the school I attend.)
