"Dear Canadian Prime Minister Harper"

From the Jerusalem Post, a very good analysis of Harper's stance on Israel by David Harris, Executive Director, American Jewish Committee.

There are, after all, a lot more votes – a lot more – in being anti-Israel than in taking a stand. But, as long as I am prime minister, whether it is at the UN or the Francophonie or anywhere else, Canada will take that stand, whatever the cost. Not just because it is the right thing to do, but because history shows us, and the ideology of the anti-Israel mob tell us all too well, that those who threaten the existence of the Jewish people are a threat to all of us.

  1. Wow. That is excellent. Harper's strength and moral resolve are a rare treasure in this cowardly, spineless age of collaboration and appeasement.

  2. I agree lady red. Would that more "politicians" were cut from the same cloth.

  3. A politician doing the right thing. May the next US President be like the Canadian PM.

  4. I've met Harris once, chatted with him. Coupled with what I have read of CSIS head-spook Richard Fadden's comments, I reckon Canada is in good hands. These guys "get it".

RMM: I don't doubt that PM Harper is going to be the anti-Obama in every possible situation internationally. Cameron is a muppet not worthy of carrying Lady Thatcher's handbag, Sarkozy and Merkel are on life support- so who's left to defend the West? (OK, pace Nigel Farage, but he's busy in Brussels vexing Rompers)

  6. Mr. Prime Minister, thank you for demonstrating that, when it comes to the Middle East, “Moral courage and a hankering to learn the truth” aren’t “on vacation” in Ottawa.

What a wonderful letter of thanks. I hope PM Harper got to see it. I wish a similar letter could have been addressed to our President, maybe by 2013...we can always hope.

If *that* isn't an apt description, lol.
