Steyn: Clapper Is An Idiot

I couldn't agree more.

This is not a happy ending but the beginning of something potentially very dark. The end of the Mubarak regime is the biggest shift in the region in 60 years, since Nasser overthrew King Farouk‘s dissolute monarchy and diminished London’s influence in Cairo. We are witnessing the unraveling of the American Middle East – that’s to say, of the regimes supported by Washington in the waning of British and French imperial power after the Second World War.

  1. James Clapper has been befuddled to the point where I've wondered if he's taking a pharmaceutical or experiencing dementia. Why Obama hasn't FIRED him is beyond me.

We've had inept people in high places before, but this administration takes the freakin' cake.

  2. We all saw how clueless he was when asked by D. Sawyer about the London terrorist arrests.

    God help us.

  6. I just watched the Diane Sawyer video. If the Three Stooges had made a film like that it would have been panned as being so stupid no one would have believed it.

Sawyer's question was ambiguous, and that's why Clapper did not know what she was asking about? That is like asking someone this past Monday if the liked the game, and - when they did not respond -- said the reason they did not know was because they did not know what game you were talking about. Twelve arrests in London, and he has no clue what Sawyer meant when she asked about London?

Oh, and I feel safe knowing they the US Government has an "outreach" program and is having "dialog" with Muslims.

But their boss is a moron, so why should we expect any more from them?

  7. He's babelicious, eh lady red?

Allen West is giving an excellent talk at CPAC right now. I think he will go far, I hope he can survive and be effective in the sewer of DC politics.

  8. Methinks Mubarak is being a tad disingenuous. Whilst he was taking America's $2B+/annum, he also permitted Egypt's population to double in 30 years and allowed Egypt's Arabic media to propagate vicious Judenhass and anti-West vitriol. The Pew poll reflects what Mubarak has created. He's now reaping what he sowed; there is no way that the Muslim Brotherhood was going to miss this opportunity.

And so, now, IL likely will face an invigorated Islamist enemy on two fronts.

  9. Yes, I pray for Israel's safety.

I thought it interesting that the journalists were attacked by the "pro-Mubarak" faction.Wiig & Palcott were pretty seriously injured.

  10. I pray for Israel, too. I hope things do not get bad. However, if they do I hope Israel will take off the kid gloves and do what needs to be done.

The other hope I have is that if Egypt becomes another third-world shit hole that the Muslims won't have the means of carrying out their hate.

  11. Due to the way events have been set up, I fear there is little Israel can do. Not even their worst will make a big enough difference. Though you notice I shy away from 'that guy'.

Muslims will have soon have the ability to do whatever they like. However.

I'm sorry, annie. If it were possible I'd place my physical body next to yours.

  12. Muslims may have the "road paved" for them them to do what they want, but I doubt they will have the "gas in the tank" to do what they want.
