How Much Will This Cost?

And who will pay for it?

The words “mother” and “father” will be removed from U.S. passport applications and replaced with gender neutral terminology, the State Department says.

“The words in the old form were ‘mother’ and ‘father,’” said Brenda Sprague, deputy assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services. "They are now ‘parent one’ and ‘parent two.’"

Oh brother. We'll have to throw out all the current forms, do a redesign, print a buttload of the new ones, and disseminate them. Allowing for typical government efficiency, the cost will undoubtedly be millions.

Look, I'm pretty middle-of-the-road when it comes to most social issues, but this move is utterly ridiculous. To appease a fraction of 1% of passport applicants, we ixnay the evil terms "father and mother" from a legal document? You just can't make this stuff up.

  1. Every day it's something else, some other little lunacy that chips away at our coffers and our culture. Does anyone else feel that way?

  4. lady red, that's PRECISELY how Tom & I both felt upon hearing this latest PC idiocy. Sadly, nothing much surprises me anymore. I'm glad I'm not just starting out in life, I'd hate to see what our country has turned into by 2050. (France, probably)

    Matt, ROFLMAO!!
