Support The Flotilla!

The flotilla to Turkey, that is!

Student Union chairman Boaz Torporovsky, who has been leading the reverse flotilla charge, told The Jerusalem Post on Monday, “Hundreds of people have volunteered for the flotilla, and many more are contacting us all the time for ways they can help.

“Our plan is to deliver much-needed humanitarian assistance to the Kurds of Turkey, who by the way outnumber Israelis and Palestinians combined,” he said.

“And to show that Turkey has its own issues when it comes to the treatment of its minorities, which they should consider before criticizing us.”

Perfection. Complete and utter perfection!

  1. When I first read about this, I laughed with delight. Can you believe it? It's exquisite!

If anyone hears how we can donate to this creative endeavor, please let me know.

    Israel rocks!

  2. Uh, oh. Involve the Kurds and you involve the USA. Turkish, Iranian and Iraqi Kurds would very much like to have their own country.

This could get interesting, or ugly, or both.

  3. Personally I'm with the Kurds. But I also stand in support of Boaz Torporovsky. What a name and what a grand idea.

  4. Ari, the political calculus has changed somewhat (IMHO).

It was once the case that the US had to balance its support for the Kurds (both pre and post Saddam) against the need to avoid (completely) alienating the Turks.

But now that Turkey isn't just wandering off the reservation, but driving - top down, radio blasting - do we really care, anymore?
