Don't Scare The Bear
From Peter Beinart at The Daily Beast, an interesting theory of just why Barry and the Dems are continuing to push a massively unpopular 'health' reform program, and how it will change the Democratic party for the foreseeable future.
Superjumbo Democrats, by contrast, argued that the public wasn’t so much anti-reform as they were anti-the legislative process that had produced reform. But more fundamentally, they argued that the American people would respect Democrats for not backing down in the face of adversity. The party might still lose seats this fall, but over time health care reform would prove popular, and the party’s willingness to fight for it would strengthen the Democratic brand.
That's an awful big gamble; obviously, BO is willing to take it.
What Beinart doesn't mention is that he himself is one of the DLC type Democrats, one who argued - forcefully, and elegantly, IMHO - for regime change in Iraq - this when he was an editor at The New Republic.
I think his narrative is a useful one.
On the one hand the present circumstances have forced our current President to cease equivocating. On the other hand, he's confirmed himself as the true man of the left that many of us suspected all along.
As Beinart says, it's up to the bear now. Heh. Indeed.
I think he's making a very valid point.

Barry can only run one more time, then he's done as President. He doesn't care about anyone else.
