Washington refused to endorse British claims to sovereignty over the Falkland Islands yesterday as the diplomatic row over oil drilling in the South Atlantic intensified in London, Buenos Aires and at the UN.
Despite Britain’s close alliance with the US, the Obama Administration is determined not to be drawn into the issue. It has also declined to back Britain’s claim that oil exploration near the islands is sanctioned by international law, saying that the dispute is strictly a bilateral issue.
You'd think that an American President would seize this opportunity to put a thumb in the eye of Argentina, but Obama apparently (A) is too busy blowing smoke at the health care summit, (B) doesn't want to offend his idealogical pal Chavez, or (C) figures that buying our oil from Argentina instead of Britain is peachy, enlightened, responsible, and downright groovy. Rock on, dude!
The Brits will dig in their heels, with or without official American government support. The American public is grateful to British forces for their sacrifices in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we will stand with our loyal brothers-in-arms.
In accord with the saying 'Do not ascribe to evil, things that can be explained by simple incompetence' I must say the Barry is the most incompetent president I've ever seen, topping in one short year, Jimmuh's legacy of dull.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lady Red. I was a little stunned by the neutral position. Anyway. I love the American people. They are the ones who matter.
ReplyDeleteSV, that man might be obtuse, but his decisions and staff and where his money came from tells a story of evil, not incompetence. His actions, whether they are his or others are pulling the strings, aren't just the random acts of a stupid man.
ReplyDeleteWhen one considers he is following in the footsteps of the tools who worked so hard to demolish the UK...well - that does explain Obama's stance against anything that would benefit the UK. He's on the side of the people who are trying to wreck the western world so they can set up a new world order with no resistance.
Meanwhile on our side of the pond we bicker over Republican vs. Democrats, not fathoming that both parties are now corrupted at their tops and working together to do alllll the same things we saw done to Britain.
Their finger pointing back and forth across the aisle serves the purpose of making it look like things would be different if only the other side got booted out of office.
That's why we see the Republican Party trying SO hard to co-opt the Tea Party Movement.
I hope and believe that Britain can defend the Falklands without our help.
ReplyDeleteIt apparently will not arrive for three more years. It took us awhile in WWII as well.
Aren't "Obama" and "Fail" redundant.
ReplyDeleteJust look at the health care summit Thursday, saying that the Republicans were using props when they were reading from the Seante bill. I agree with MW -- there is evil here. Perhaps Obama, himself, is incompetent, However, his controllers are evil.
We need to get conservatives into the House and Senate this November. We need to fight back hard and fight back soon, or mankind is in trouble for a long, long time.
Yep Matt - conservative citizens this time, no more politicians. I no longer care if the person's label says "Republican", since I've learned that is no longer a guarantee that the person is anything like a conservative. Always been a staight ticket voter - just to keep the Democrats (aka: communists) out, but that doesn't work anymore. I can't even listen to talking heads yammer about how the Republicans are so much better than those crazy Democrats. Geezo peezo, yeah - their platform IS better, but since they lie about what they're gonna do and don't follow The Platform, it no longer matters to me if the candidate is an Independent, a Libertarian, or a no-name-whatever that doesn't even belong to a party. If they pass muster as a citizen, I'll consider them. No Democrats though - they're still commies.
ReplyDeleteFunny, but I would think real hard before voting for a Republican anymore for any major office - most of them seem controlled by a Power Greater Than Themselves, and their campaign finances ALWAYS look bad. Hadn't figured the day would come when I'd avoid Republican incumbents, but then I hadn't known how bad things would get at the top of my long time party.
