  3. I'm glad it was a close game lady red. The USA have nothing to be ashamed of, your women played a good tournament.

Too bad they weren't able to score on one of the two 5 on 3 power plays they had. well, too bad for them but great for us!

  4. Well, if we couldn't take it, I so glad Canada did!

    Woohoo!

  5. So what's wrong with this sentence lol:

    Two man women's bobsleigh.

Which, BTW, in case you didn't know, Canada won Gold and Silver!

  6. And congratulations to Joannie Rochette, the Canadian women's skater who won a Bronze medal tonight, despite the fact that her 55 year old mother collapsed and died of a heart attack on Sunday shortly after arriving in Vancouver to watch her daughter compete.

  7. Congrats to the Canadian Women...damn good game and they deserved their win hands down.

That said...how about a best of 7 series next time ES v Can. and skip the other women's teams...they're not even in the sme league? Hey, how about a best of 7 North American Championship every year?

  8. Er...."ES" = "US"...need more coffee.

  9. I was at the bobsleigh competition to see our country take Silver and Gold. I have crazy crazy pictures of the crashes as well. I also made it on TV as I was at turn 16 where the German braker slide out of the upturned bobsleigh and walked right in front of us (not that I wanted to be on TV for that particular reason... but we were right at the fence).

The Canadian women have been sweeping up medals for the Canadians like there is no tomorrow at these Games. Refreshing to see... but we have two men's team in the runnings for top medals - men's curling and hockey. Fingers & toes crossed for them as well!!!

  10. Aridog... hmmm. No. (Hey, how about a best of 7 North American Championship every year?) LOL!!! Kidding... I still think it would come down to Canada - not to say though, that the US wouldn't give us a run for our money!

  11. ~KC~....heh. We like to make you run for your money.

  12. USA and Finland are on the ice right now for the start of the first semi-final men's hockey game. Woo hoo.

I'm working from home today, but I'm spending my lunch break watching the 1st period.

  13. 4 - 0 USA after 10 minutes! This is embarrassing, Finland is pulling the number 1 goalie.

  14. I was just typing 5 - 0 when they scored again, now it's 6 - 0...

  15. I'm getting indigestion moving back and forth from the couch to the computer lol!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh well my indigestion obviously put a stop to the USA goal rush.

Final score 6 - 1. USA heads for Gold on Sunday.

  17. Aridog: ~KC~....heh. We like to make you run for your money.

Perhaps because of that running you make us do is why we won over you!!! (we so fit from all that running!!!) Ok. So that was a bad comeback ... but if it comes down the men's hockey Canada vs. US - that will be a game worth watching and DEFINITELY a run for our funny money!!!

(There's a bit of a debate (heated on my part) over at Buck's place over the apparent so called tasteless and trashy conduct our ladies had with their post-game celebratory win... maybe some of you would like to weigh in on it??? ) Here's the link: http://exileinportales.blogspot.com/2010/02/fall-out.html

  18. The Canadian ladies had earned their fun.

I am happy with them -- and I rarely turn down a cigar, or a beer, or a bumper of champagne -- even if I am older and uglier and less athletic.

Oh, please!! It's Ice Hockey, not Tiddly Winks. Rock on ladies....

  20. I'm all for the IOC being the ultimate authority of what is appropriate Olympic behaviour. After all they felt it appropriate to continue the 1972 games after 11 Jews were killed by Arab terrorists.

Women drinking beer and smoking cigars is obviously far more inappropriate than Jews being murdered.

  21. Wow, great point, Fay. I too thought it was ridiculous to get after them for celebrating; your comment shows just how hypocritical the IOC is and really puts it into perspective.

    Well, duh! :OP
I think it would be good if they change their name to the Olympic International Committee so that we can say OIC! (which sounds like a cross between oink and oy).

Thought the cigar was cool, and one beer is hardly "underage drinking". I mean - what 18 year old would be damaged by that? And after all the hard work they've put in for years? Give the girls a break for a moment already, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  23. ...the 18 yrs old is one month away from turning 19!!! I mean come on!!!

    AND excellent point Fay.

  24. Fay wins. Since she's a proud Canadian woman, give her a beer and a cigar, and let her drive the zamboni over the IOC oinkers. Hah!
