Not Particularly 'Alureon'

For anyone who has not yet heard.  The FBI, incooperation with a couple of Eastern European  police agencies, have busted an internet crime ring.

On Monday next, the servers operated by this ring will shut down, and if you were infected, you will no langer have internet access.

To check and clear, if needed, go here, scroll down to the orange box, and do what they instruct.

  1. Thanks for the heads-up DWT! I tested in the green. :)

  2. Uh, it's Monday and everyone tests green, per the website. This gambit sure seems like it was of the: "Erase a virus, get a new one!" variety.

The "invite" to double check is suspicious .... like if it says you're green, what's to double check? Why wouldn't the multiple effective malware/virus scan softwares available have detected/defeated it already?

No offense meant, but, honestly, but this reeks of sucker bait. Perhaps just innocent/irritating, but some one somewhere has $$ to gain by it. Or it would not be there with follow on links for the uncertain.

    1. Ari - had it been something that came in my email, I would have checked it on my own and probably nto mentioned it.

Since it was something that appeared in many places, including newspapers, Hot Air, etc - I decided it was worth sharing.
