Ghost in the Shell is a a long running franchise, this is the *third* major re-imagining of the universe. The "plot" per se has always been secondary to the conception.
They lifted the best element from the second major re-spin - the relationship between Batou and the Major.
I read about the wiki page for "Ghost in the Shell" and didn't get far before my head started to hurt.

I am 100% certain that Hollywood has taken care of the "makes my head hurt" problem for the story line! It always does, it's good like that! ;)
The focus will be on the relationship between Batou and the Major.
Think about it. You're an impossibly powerful cyborg, a trained government tactical operator in a secret unit. You are also, basically, a brain in a vat, impossibly fragile and alienated. The Ghost in the Shell, literally. What does it mean to be connected to someone? To anyone?
God I hope Batou isn't friendzoned again in this one. 😍😍😍

Somehow this looks like one of those movies where all the plot elements are shown in the trailer and the rest is CGI pyrotechnics.
