I need to re-read Jean Kirkpatrick's famous speech about authoritarians vs totalitarians.
I remember thinking it was such cynical bullshit when I was young and knew everything, that it was just a rationalization of "our bastards" vs "their bastards".
Little did I know three things would happen:
1) we would beat the totalitarians abroad 2) we would loose to them at home 3) I would come to know quite up close and personal just how goddamn right that woman was.
Lewy, could you please post a linkypoo to Kirkpatrick's speech? She wrote a lot of stuff, and I'm not sure which one you're referring to. The Kirkpatrick Doctrine?
Spelling and grammar; my thoughts are too deep and complex (*cough*cough*) in my olde age to utilize either with any consistency. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Deep thoughts. Deep. Deep. Thoughts.
Matt, there are Russians under every bed. Damn Russkies! How dare they rig the election results in flyover-land! I think I even saw one near my local precinct. Or at least I saw a guy wearing an Ushanka. That's proof enough for me.
The "news" spoon-feeds the left their marching orders, and that's that. They're single-minded to the point of Borg-ness. It's spooky.

2b) I would fail to spell at the 3rd grade level way too often...
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on second grade.
