I'd vote for any of them over Hillary. Although I might sit the election out if it's Trump or Bush. No doubt, Cruz is a very smart guy and a superb debater. He just comes across to me as not real sincere.
With the increasing threats from the insane head-choppers, I've shifted my favored status to Christie.
Sitting the election out is voting for the Democrat. Whether Truman was good, bad, or indifferent is beside the point: he won the 1948 election because Republicans sat it out. Whoever the Republican nominee is, he or she will not be as dangerous as the Democrat candidate. You want the Republican candidate to be the best possibles? Then you better get involved now. Get involved in the process. Do what you can to become a delegate at your state convention. I would not be surprised if your precinct does not have a precinct committee officer. Volunteer for the job. If there is one, volunteer to help out. I have been there and done that. You can too.
RadioMattM ... agreed, sitting out is a vote for a Democrat, or Hillary at worst. I will vote for any Republican who wins the nomination, like them or not....I dislike Hillary far more. Hell, I'd vote for a garden slug over Hillary.
That said, this being Michigan I live in I doubt I'd be very welcome at any Republican caucus...I might forget which lapel pin to wear. Still it might be worth a try...I'll curse you later if necessary.
Well, I hear you, Matt and Aridog. I've always voted, in every kind of election. I will probably vote no matter who our candidate is as I know it's essential to keep that horrible woman as far away from the oval office as possible. I would just feel very depressed knowing I was voting for Bush or Trump. I'd be ok with any of the other candidates (although I can't stand Santorum and don't like Rand Paul but the odds of either of them being our candidate are - thankfully - miniscule).
I'm not sure you know how the Michigan Republican Caucus works (we have no Republican Primary...thank you establishment wonks) and it works EXACTLY like "Musical Chairs"...you either agree to be co-opted or you are out of it. Just out the door, no further say in diddly squat. I wasn't kidding about the lapel pin...its the only way to tell a Republican from a Democrat here. Best, worst case example, was our 14 year year Republican Governor Milliken...they most tax obsessed and tax applying Governor ever in the state's history...including a hidden VAT that only recently was abolished. That sucker gave us a permanent income tax and the VAT (Single Business Tax) based upon existence, not income and penalized hiring and labor. Pray tell just what income stream do you pay a VAT from if there is a loss year? I paid that twice in my small business sojourn. Answer: your own back pocket....as that sorry POS intended. A Republican...HAH! Worse yet, he formally endorsed John Kerry in 2004 for President.
If I do try once again, expect curses...it is fore ordained.
No problem, "Arid" is an apt description of my political attitude here. We have worked hard to go from one of the most productive prosperous states in the Union to just another debtor pile of crap....that takes cooperation between both parties, which here, are nearly one and the same.
I am slightly amused by the simple fact that as often as I've said all this here, no one (yet) has seen fit to question it. Guess I'm the only guy from Michigan, or the others are more put off than I am...which would be easy.
Well, I'm not a Republican, and feel no obligation to vote for their candidate.
I am, however, a conservative, and will weigh my vote carefully when the time comes. I've voted in every election since I was 18. I even voted for McCain and Romney, in an attempt to stop the alternative.
If Warren runs, I'll vote for the Pillsbury doughboy if that's who the Rs nominate. She's truly dangerous, IMHO. However, I don't see a whole lot of daylight between Hillary and Jeb. SSDD.
Right now I'm backing Carson, because he's a decent human being and an unapologetic Christian (even if it is a wacky denomination). When he's knocked out of the race (he has no chance against the media onslaught) I'll see who's left standing. Meanwhile I'll continue to work hard at the local and state level.
Jeb may be a RINO with a big horn growing out of his forehead and I absolutely do not want to see him as the Republican candidate, but he at least is not a lying sleazebag who would fuck his mother in order to get money or power.
Hey, quit picking on Matt :-)) ...he's right on point, usually. I wish I had his optimism...really, I do. It's the "Matts" of this world who may save us...old cranks like me, not so much...I've quit. Maybe I will go to the big fat Republican Caucus this year (always in "Jesus Saves" country up north)...just to pee on a few legs :-)) I might even last the first round of votes...but no more. Then...no chair for you, sucker!
You know, Aridog, you may be in better shape this year to last a bit longer. There is too much dissent this year for it too be ignored. Whether you like him or not, I think we have Trump to thank for that. He can be a lighting rod for the wrath of the elite -- and it emboldens others to step up their game as well.
RadioMattM ... in better shape, maybe. Trump is the least of my worries on dissent & division. I find Trump interesting and am beginning to think he's right more often than wrong, but I wish he'd manage his "words" better. As the pundits say: "Words matter."
I should add one thing about Trump in my mind...I cannot bear his facial expressions....like some Junior High Schooler...they bug me more than his words at times. I realize that is a prejudicial remark about appearance, not substance...but still.....Aaaaggghhhh! I will try to forget about it....Obama's smug facial expressions bug me even more, so what the heck?
Seem to be under the impression there's an award for laziest post of the year...
ReplyDeleteThis one will be hard to beat. :))
DeleteSeconded for the award ;-)
DeleteWell, I'd vote for Cruz. That's something I guess. I can't say that about many Republicans.
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for any of them over Hillary. Although I might sit the election out if it's Trump or Bush. No doubt, Cruz is a very smart guy and a superb debater. He just comes across to me as not real sincere.
ReplyDeleteWith the increasing threats from the insane head-choppers, I've shifted my favored status to Christie.
lr, flo, thx.
ReplyDeleteMy parsimonious take:
- If the Republicans nominate someone that everyone could live with, they win the election
- Cruz is the someone that everyone could live with.

ReplyDeleteArid of and Florrie: thank you for you comments. Please get involved early, or else you get only what the elite want to give you.
