I agree with her as well, Fay. His voice just gives me shivers. I can think of 3 other men who have voices that are incredible - Alan Rickman (I know, I know), Trace Adkins and Michael York.
Fay, I don't know if you're a fan of Michael York but I saw a current picture of him not long ago and was flabbergasted. Not in a good way. In a Keef way.
Just catching up here after a crazy week. I LOVE Leonard Cohen. As you all say, smooth as silk, voice that gives you the shivers, and he is such a gentleman! The way he gives credit to his backing singers, the way he doffs his hat... oh, swooon! ♥ ♥
I also like the little Biblical or Jewish references that I catch in his songs when I listen carefully, and the way he is so proud of his heritage.
He performed in Israel a year or two ago and was a huge hit. The highlight was at the end when he spread out his hands and gave the crowd the Priestly Blessing (May the Lord bless you and keep you etc.) - as someone called Cohen he is, well, he is a Cohen, i.e a Priest. That was such a beautiful touch, and gratefully appreciated in war-battered Israel.
Thank you lewy. I adore Leonard Cohen, the music and the man.
ReplyDeleteAs my friend Bita says, "Leonard Cohen My Oh My. He is without doubt the most desirable 80 year old man ever."
Perfect choice, lewy. Smooth as silk.

Oooo, that gave me the shivers. In a good way.
ReplyDeleteGraham Greene has a voice that gives me the shivers too (not the author, the pudgy, 60-something First Nations actor and narrator).
Glad you ladies liked it - I think I discovered Leonard Cohen through one of you a long time ago on a blog far, far away...

How cool that you went to that concert, annie! It sounds really inspiring...
ReplyDeleteI didn't go florrie, sadly. I saw clips of it on TV and read reports.
DeleteThat's even better! I'd much rather stay home where I'm comfortable and can have snacks when I'm watching a concert ;-)
