Who are these women, these Antigones? According to their communique released Sunday, when they appeared on Paris' streets:
The Antigones are not just another movement. It is a simple gathering of women. Far from any religious or political consideration, we demand our basic right and our fundamental duty to be women in our own right.
Woman's dignity does not pass through exhibitionism and hysteria. It goes through our wisdom, calm and determination to build our future.
Daughters of our fathers, wifes to our husbands, mothers of our sons, we do not reject men. Instead, we are persuaded that it is with them, complementarity, we will build our future.
We are reminded of the situation of Antigone of Sophocles. This young woman had choices, preferring to follow the values and the legitimacy of the law of nature rather than obey unjust orders. Thus we oppose Femen, which act as watchdogs, are the orders of an ideology that undermines the foundations of our society and violates our values.
The FEMEN pushed feminism into its most squalid corner, it's time to stop.
The English is bad, but, fuck, this is music to my ears. Like the early punk days, this blows a hole in the radio when it hasn’t sounded good all week.
ReplyDeleteSomething is happening.
A people sleeping begin to flutter their eyelids and wake up from this nightmare.
Here's a link.
ReplyDeleteWeird - how'd you find this Kevin - did you run across it in the French media? The "Business Insider" piece is the only link I can find in English...
N.B they claim the Antigones are linked to Bloc Identitiare - a "far right" group (which I increasingly read simply as "threatening to the status quo powers")...
N.B.2: The party line:
- Crazy painted shirtless shrieking harpies (FEMEN) -> our kind of people.
- Charming but modest French women standing up for the culture of their mothers and their mothers mothers -> dangerous extremists.
Kevin I hear you but I'm pretty sure "waking up" isn't sufficient. Like I've said, we don't have to wonder what the inside of a "FEMA camp" looks like. We can just walk outside and look around.
Yes, I did find this in the French media. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to take any of the English-language media seriously, as there is quite a lot that simply is not being reported, including in the U.S. This is one of those areas where having some language skills really pays off.
DeleteIt is pretty striking that you are correct: topless women screaming obscenities are good citizens, women in dresses asking for respect for tradition are suspicious characters.
However, over all, I'm pretty pleased with the current situation. I knew that Obama would do nothing but fuel the still small, but growing, real opposition.
The reaction against whatever you want to call the system (I prefer Progressive Globalism) is *just starting*. There are already things written in plain English in mainstream newspapers that would shock an American of just two decades ago, like this from the Wall St Journal's Peggy Noonan:
"What does it mean when half the country—literally half the country—understands that the revenue-gathering arm of its federal government is politically corrupt, sees them as targets, and will shoot at them if they try to raise their heads? That is the kind of thing that can kill a country, letting half its citizens believe that they no longer have full political rights."
This is the kind of thing that can kill a country.
THAT is a radical statement.
We are winning, even though it doesn't appear so yet. I'm sure the Soviet Union looked fearsome right up until the morning the Russian people decided it no longer existed. USG is the same paper tiger.
I like my people's chances. We are not Afrikaners and hopelessly outnumbered. We are largely armed. Our people form the vast majority of the fighting branches of the military.

I hope you're right, Kevin. I really do.
DeleteWhat does it mean when half the country...
DeleteHere's what it means: it means that the other half of the country is totally down with it, thinks it's awesome, and that the 'baggers have it coming.
Which would mean "game on", and the winner will be the side with the most ruthless and single minded leadership, and which holds the most levers of power.
Doesn't feel to me like that's "us".
I looked around for articles about them too, but also only found the one site in English. I hadn't heard of Femme but there was plenty on them - ugh. How refreshing to see this group of women (Antigone) speaking their minds!
ReplyDeleteIt's about damn time traditional women stood up to the femenazis. I like this group. I hope they don't get eaten alive by a rabid pack of shrill bra-burners.
ReplyDeleteWell said as always, lady red! I totally agree.
