Soros for SecDef?

It turns out that Chuck Hagel is on the board of the George Soros-funded "Ploughshares Fund" which is, nominally, dedicated to the elimination of nuclear weapons throughout the world, but actually only working toward their elimination, or at least extreme reduction, as part of the US arsenal.

While there are, of course, some excellent reasons for a universal, verifiable (in other words, impossible) rather than unilateral-by-the-US banning of nuclear weapons, the Fund is also behind attempts to eliminate any research on purely-defensive anti-missile systems, as well as killing funding for new weapons systems already developed.

As well, 'Ploughshare' is closely linked to;

"...a who’s who of the radical left, including Code Pink, the pro-Palestinian J Street, United for Peace & Justice, the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and the Demos progressive group, where Obama’s former green jobs czar, Van Jones, serves on the board."

There is much more at this link, an excellent report from Aaron Klein.

I tried and tried to fnid the excellent photo-shop of soros as Emperor Palpatine, but could not.

  1. This is what the reactionary blogosphere refers to as "The Cathedral"-- the USG, NGO, Media and Academic elites that form the vanguard of the powerful progressive forces that dominate our politics and our culture.

    Again, it's better to have them ruling out in the open, where their obvious failure and shortcomings are clear and recognizable to anyone who wishes to wake up.

    1. The thing is conservatism is riven right now - the Ron Paul fanboys are all over this stuff. They love it.

      Referring back to Walter Russell Mead's taxonomy - there is a legitimate strain of "Jeffersonian" in American foreign policy tradition - fair enough...

      ...but it seems to me that a good bit of "Jeffersonian" conservatism is underwritten (meme-wise, and maybe money wise) by Putin's Russia... as evidenced by the popularity of "Russia Today" links among that set.
