Fay - no, just a memory for interesting facts, and some google-fu.When my wife went to art school she learned about pigments and their history and she told me the story of Mary's robes.Just now I googled "blue pigment mary" and the wiki link popped up.Thanks for the post, it's beautiful.

Very interesting, Lewy, and of course the artist used blue to help glorify Mary, rather than the far-more-likely browns, greens etc achieved with natural plant-based dyes.
