If it is worth seeing once, it is worth seeing again. Not that you are a big Marvin fan or anything.
April 1, 1984 was a Sunday. I was working at a radio station in Seattle when the news came over the teletype that Marvin had been killed. I was on the FM side. I went to the guy on the AM side and told him, "Marvin Gaye has been killed. That's a shock."
The guy on the AM side laconically said, "I'm sure it didn't make his night, either."
Oh my!
ReplyDeleteOr as Mauretto would say: rsrsrsrsrsrsrsrsss

Thank you, darling Fay. Even if you did post it before, I've never seen this live version so I'm very glad you posted it again! I have goosebumps!
ReplyDeleteThis is my ALL TIME favorite Marvin Gaye song. I know every moan and groan of it :-)
Sigh. So sad that Marvin's gone. IMO, he was the sexiest soul singer of all time. OK, maybe tied with Otis.
I think Marvin forgot his undies that night...
I remember that day too, Matt. So unbelievable that his dad shot him.
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, it was a family argument that went really bad.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I just looked it up on Wiki :-(
ReplyDeleteGosh, he'd be 72.
Sexiest for sure florrie. I love Otis. But, there is no comparison on the sexy. Marvin wins. Big time.

Oh - LOVELOVELOVELOVE!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to say that the Marvin Gaye version of the National Anthem is one of my all time faves.
^^^
ReplyDeleteGoing to look that up on YouTube right now...
Swoon...here it is...
ReplyDeleteYoo hoo florrie! I have a post all about plants at my place. Come on over and help me identify some of them! :)
ReplyDeleteI have Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin' On' album on CD. His best, for my money.
ReplyDeleteNow all I need is a functioning CD player.
I could play it through the PC, but the speakers are for crap. No bass.
I have a sub-woofer on my computer. I hate listeing to anything without it.
