Without A Little Help From My Friends...

Another great letter from Letters Of Note.

Dear Linda and Paul,

I was reading your letter and wondering what middle aged cranky Beatle fan wrote it. I resisted looking at the last page to find out – I kept thinking who is it – Queenie? Stuart's mother? – Clive Epstein's wife? – Alan Williams? – What the hell – it's Linda!

Go forth and read it all here.

  3. I can't STAND Paul McCartney. He's a silly old man that dyes his hair and makes the most inappropriate comments at OUR White House.

Plus, he can't sing for shyte.

  4. I do wish florrie would be a little less ambiguous:))

  5. I'd post that embarrassed emoticon except that it looks kind of angry...

I liked him all right (even though his voice has gone since he hit his 60's) but when he was at out White House, as a guest of this country and made insulting comments about our previous president's intelligence, he crossed the line, in my book. The line beyond which stand the classless and tasteless. I don't resent him feeling that way, I resent him feeling he must air those views publicly and in that place.

Bah, the pox on his house.

  6. I visited the (long closed) Apple Record studios in London in 1979.

People were still coming here, lighting candles, leaving flowers, painting messages everywhere... mournful, sad, plaintive messages.

It was like something you'd find at the site of a recent train wreck. Because it was, kinda...

  7. Hmmm... I guess I'll have to return that 10 CD Paul McCartney box set I picked up for florrie's birthday.

  8. LMAO!!!

I still love the Beatles music and always will, Alphie. We have all the LPs (and in CDs too) from "Yesterday & Today" on.

I feel bad about my nasty rant, I'm not sure if I should send Magic Fayre an apology email or just delete my remarks.

  9. I also have (and love) Paul McCartney's first solo album. I was never much of a Wings fan, however...

  11. Oh no florrie, you do not owe me an apology at all.

I think Paul's an ass. I love his early Lennon/McCartny stuff but he turned into a completely unbearable asshole.

I hated Linda and I hated Heather (although I had absolutely zilch sympathy for him there).

And you are right, going to the White House and openly criticizing a previous President is way wrong. And completely without class.

  12. I think the truth about Lennon and McCartney is that they needed each other.

Without McCartney, Lennon's music was quirky; not the easiest stuff to listen to.

Without Lennon, McCartney's music was mindless pop, without substance.

    IMHO.
