Eat'em Up, Yum!

Or maybe not:

National study shows that nearly half of US meats are infected with drug-resistant bacteria.

Cook them well-done, folks.

  1. The CBC featured a story on its news magazine about chicken a few weekes ago. Isn't that what cooking is for?

What did people do before they even had the drugs to which bacteria became resistant?

Well... a lot of them died... I mean, didn't they?

FWIW I think the bacteria get the resistance from the antibiotics that are fed to the cows, so they can digest corn, which they weren't meant to eat.

Every now and then the hippies get something right. Now personally I don't care if the soybeans in my edemame are GMO, and "organic" produce doesn't do much for me... but... I kinda see the whole anti-factory meat thing, because the biology of factory meat production is arguably flawed.

I loves me my local grass fed beef... Especially if I want to eat it rare.

  3. Dang I had a nice humourous comment for this that got et by der Grue. :-/

I shall abbreviate: All food stuffs are contaminated by bad stuff to some degree. It's the "degree" (dosage) that matters. "Organic" foods, are raised in shit, and often fed shit. Literally. Nuthin's more "organic" that feed lot cattle who stand in shit 24/7 whilst fed corn ... inches from the shit layered flooring. All these "Organic" (he he) cattle are grass fed for the majority of their lives, then sold to feed lots on the way to market.

Thinks that's gross, eh? Try pig organic farming or free range chickens ... they get to live in shit, and eat the shit too.

Me? I worry more about Abu Tal Mahamod teh butcher & La'Taqanesha teh butcher's assistant washing their hands after taking a dump or whiz or both, down at the piled higher and deeper market. I do prefer they wear gloves and that said gloves be donned after all nose picking is finished. =))

  5. How many people died due to poor food storage and preparation as opposed to the mere presence of bacteria in the uncooked food?
