For the fourth time in seven years, Canada will hold a General Election in May. The minority government of Stephen Harper's Conservative Party was defeated in a non-confidence motion today.
Harper has been elected twice as PM of a minority Conservative government. Please people of Canada, do the right thing and give him a resounding majority in May. He's the best PM Canada has had in my time living here and is a strong, unfaltering friend of Israel.
Fingers crossed.
If the Conservatives win another minority it will probably lead to a coalition government comprised of the unholy alliance that is the NDP (read SOCIALISTS), the Liberal Party (read ELITIST SOCIALISTS), and the Bolc Quebecois (Separatists).
ReplyDeleteYikes!
That's a nightmare scenario Fay.
ReplyDeleteHere in the states, that would be like the democrats, the unions, and the far-left liberals forming an unholy alliance. Oh wait, they already did. :-L
Bah, blogger just ate my comment.
ReplyDeleteBlogger has a voracious appetite. ;))
ReplyDeleteYup it does. I just liberated a comment by annie that had been stuck in the spam folder.
ReplyDeleteI had been checking the Spam folder regularly, but have fallen down on that lately.
ReplyDeleteToo bad there seems no way to turn Blogger's overly sensitive filter off.
@ Fay 6:10PM
ReplyDeleteThe Count (TM) has unequivocally ruled out a coalition. My response:
1. He's a politician. His lips are moving. Ipso facto, he's lying.
2. He genuinely means it, and will be held to a minority government if the Liberals are elected; or
3. He'll use a minority government situation (Liberal or Conservative) and his "no-coalition" pledge as the opportunity to slither back to Back Bay, rather than limp along as the unelectable, unlikable Liberal leader
#5 Fay: that was the weirdest thing. I could see my comment in the sidebar but it disappeared from the thread. Then it appeared in the sidebar after Luther's comment but in the thread Luther's comment appeared before mine! Blogger is not only hungry but deranged as well. :)
ReplyDelete#7 Earl: Who is this "Count"? My knowledge of Canadian politics begins and ends at PM Harper.
ReplyDeleteannie, Earl is talking about the leader of the opposition Liberal Party, Michael Ignatieff. He's an elitist academic who has spent more time outside Canada than in. He supposedly comes from Russian aristocracy, that why Earl calls him The Count.
ReplyDeleteAh, thanks Fay. I've heard of him and even seem to remember reading an article or 2 by him and thinking that he's an idiot. That's the one, right?
ReplyDeleteRight annie LOL, l'idgit is he :)
ReplyDeleteHe is one of those people who never met a tax he didn't like.
