For florrie....it's spring!

I'm not exactly a great photographer like Matt, aridog, and florrie, but here's my humble offering.  One of these days I'll post some of Noah's photos; he's really good too!

Peach blossoms on a tree we planted last spring.

Purple hyacinth in our bulb garden.  At least I think it's hyacinth!

Redbud blossoms.

Pink hyacinth.

New green leaves on our little plum tree!

  2. It is! It's spring! Florrie wanted to see peach blossoms, since they don't grow in her neck of the woods, so I thought I would post a few pictures here. :)

  3. I wish I'd had a camera with me on my drives to and from work, on the last two days. The tree branches as I drove over the mountain were glorious to see.

No buds, just a thick coating of ice that glittered in the setting and/or rising sun (dfepending in which direction I was going) like something out of JG ballard's 'Crystal World'.

Given that our temps are supposed to get down to 10-12 degress tonight, they will almost certainly be the same tomorrow.

But I still will not have a camera.

  5. I'm so glad I checked TCKT before I turned in!

I think you're about 2 or 3 weeks ahead of us judging by the buds and leaves on your trees, lady red! They're all beautiful! I have a cercis too but it buds out very late. Oh, how I wish I could grow a peach tree. I'll just have to come to Arkansas and see yours :-)

Thank you so much for the lovely pictures, I can never get enough of plants (plus, I love that rock in the second pic, is that part of your house??).

  8. florrie@5: The rock is part of a backborder for my bulb garden, and it's in my front yard. It helps delineate the wild woods from the little tended patch I mow. Noah is making a trellis and planting climbing roses behind the rock border this year. It should be lovely! :)

  9. I'm with Florie. I think we should choose a spot for our TCKT commune. Fay found a nice house in Majorica that should fit the blill nicely. If we all chipped in a bit....

  10. What beautiful pictures. It's been spring here for a while of course but I love seeing different flowers.

Florrie, Matt etc., you're all welcome to start a commune here. I'll return with you in the summer months to call off, but y'all are welcome in the "winter" (what we call winter anyway) and spring. :)

  11. Lady Red ... concentrate on just how you took that photo of the peach blossoms and you've got it. Composition and depth of field are great (proof you CAN do close ups with a wider angle lens), the vibrant color bursting from the gray woods and dull leafy floor.

    Image is everything.

  12. Argh! My #10 should read "to cool off" not "to call off".
