Obama Voter To Obama 'I'm Exhausted Defending You'
From Real Clear Politics, a video from a 'Town Hall' meeting, in which a woman who works hard, and raises her kids, asks if her new reality is to go back to eating beany-weenies.
Did I miss my link, somehow? Ah well, between repairing the porch posts, building a new step, hanging cables & a new broom rack, as well as laundry, dishes, cleaning the furnace AND making it to the library, this has been a busy weekend.
Thanks so much for posting this, Dances...er...and lady red.
:-)
I had heard about it earlier but hadn't seen the video. The left is saying she's a plant, because we KNOW that NO ONE of the democratic persuasion would ever criticise Pres. Obama! Right?
lewy - It's funny how that ol' middle-class life is disappering, isn't it? I think all of us had hotdogs and beans night. There was also spaghetti night, taco night and pork chops night. And it really never varied very much, except it was all cents a plate and not dollars.
Speaking of hot dogs, I'll never had another one in the U.S. after being here...WOW, are these good. One Kasekrainer on a toasted roll and you are hooked!
Um, can we not forget tuna casserole night? Because the AF Family had that Saturday night. We were living large.
Oh - and we had a Ramen noodle night when I was growing up, too. My dad never did manage to find a city that paid City Manager's the salary that Bell, CA was offering.
And my mom never threw away left over mac and cheese. She saved it, then baked it with bacon for dinner the next night. I actually looked forward to that.

Absolutely nothing! I still make them, and eat them in mass quantities. Proper ratio is no spoon or fork should be able to come out of the spread without at least one weenie piece on it. I cut up any left over bacon in to bits and add for even mo' betta.
And "Ramen Noodles" (properly said "Rom-Yon" noodles) are great, with two eggs per bag, whisked in at the last moment, plus a half table spoon of ground Korean red pepper (no seeds), a table spoon of finely chopped chives, and half table spoon of toasted sesame seeds.
Best "Ramen" brand (bar none, don't even try) is Sam Yang original chicken flavor, Sapporo Ichiban will do, but you'll need more hot pepper and chives.
I am THE COOK in this house we, yes, Judi and I DO eat like kids....why the flip not? We could live on noodles (various dishes), baked beans and hot dogs..preferably of the natural case jumbo fat big variety.
And meatloaf! Didn't you all have meatloaf night? My mom makes an amazing meatloaf (ALWAYS served with mashed potatoes) - I never understood all the jokes about how awful meatloaf was. But then again, I'm one of those people who's delighted to get fruitcake at Christmas (well, at least the 70% candied fruit kind).
And then there were the roast beef or roast chicken Sunday dinners...
A current favorite at our place is grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.
Swedish Meatballs? Ikea has great ones in big bags for easy prep. With mashed taters and the Ikea gravy mix they're great. I do cheat with the gravy mix...calls for water, but I use half and half. :D
My nod to better health are the fresh green beans I prepare with the meatballs and taters. With lots of butter and salt of course...eh, so much for the healthy part. :-L
Dances darling, I just edited your post and added a link to Real Clear Politics. It's a great video, and I know everyone will want to see it.
ReplyDeleteI saw a clip of this on the news earlier, and it was heartbreaking listening to everyday Americans pleading with the President.
He doesn't get it, though. He just doesn't GET it.
I was, however, glad to hear that the Recession is over, and HAS been over for quite some time. :-/

ReplyDeleteYou didn't do OUR dishes, Dances, so I'm not going to buy your lame excuse! ;)

What's wrong with beanie-weenies?!?!
ReplyDeleteSaturday night was franks and beans night where I'm from.
ReplyDeleteThe beans were from a can. Mom splurged on the hotdogs: Hebrew National. I guess that makes me upper middle class.

OMG. I cannot believe my capitalization and punctuation up there.
ReplyDeleteWow.

And dessert :))

Fay....how'd you know I buy Corn Dogs in 24 piece box lots at CostCo now and then?
ReplyDeleteNo Spotted Dick, but old fashioned Boiled Custard (a pain to make but worth it) on gingerbread is about right.
